Move It Van Lines Of Silver Spring Maryland (MD) – Do Not Use

5:00 pm EST July 28th, 2009 | News | Comments Off

Move It Van Lines Of Silver Spring Maryland (301) 438-3035 is a terrible moving company, and you shouldn’t use them. Move It Van Lines quoted our family a rate of $646.80 over the phone. We gave Move It Van Lines of Silver Spring MD our credit card for a deposit on the move. They called us a day before the scheduled move to ask if they could do the move earlier, and we said ok. When Move It Van Lines Of Silver Spring Maryland showed up, they began loading their truck and then gave us a bill. Instead of the $646.80 they quoted, the bill was for $850.

Move It Van Lines Of Silver Spring Maryland tried to charge us $200 over their original quote, and refused to admit error when we complained about this ridiculous charge.

Move It Van Lines Of Silver Spring Maryland lost our business, and you shouldn’t do business with a company like this who doesn’t tell the truth.

The Metro Accident

3:28 am EST June 23rd, 2009 | News | 12 Comments

I gotta tell you, it is beyond surreal to see that about 9 people have now died in the DC subway accident. Not only is it just down the street from my house, but this is my train. The accident happened between the Takoma Park and Fort Totten stations, and I get on at Takoma Park and off at Dupont Circle every day for work.

Metro is such a basic part of our lives here that you don’t really ever think about it, its always there. In fact, the system was opened here about 2 years before I was born. The last thing you could imagine is that somebody could ever die on it. I feel so badly for the families of the victims.

Dear D.C. Visitors And Tourists, Please Listen Up

1:49 am EST August 11th, 2007 | Uncategorized | 14 Comments

dc metroOh my God, it is about time. These people, especially between June-September, just plop themselves down on the left hand side of the escalator like they were planted there.

Stand to the RIGHT, already.

That has been the eternal plea — grumbled, spoken, yelled and otherwise communicated — of impatient Metro commuters stuck on escalators because tourists don’t realize that in big, important Washington, you stand to the right so all the Type A people can hurry past on the left.

For the first time in its history, Metro has started telling them.

“Hi. Welcome to Metro,” the station announcement begins. “We have a lot of escalators in our system. You’ll notice that most people stand on the right side. And while you’re riding, hold the handrail for your safety. Enjoy your trip, and thank you for riding Metro.”

The announcement is one of a series that the agency has recently recorded to ever-so-gently remind riders of the system’s rules, customs and quirks, including escalator etiquette and train-door operation.

We love that you’re here to visit. You’ll enjoy the heck out of it. But please, move out of the freaking way.

This past weekend an old high school friend of mine was visiting from out of town, and he’d never been to Washington, D.C. before so I gave him a quick tour of some of the highlights.

Hero!

12:28 am EST January 25th, 2007 | Uncategorized | 20 Comments

In D.C., a homeless man dived into the water and saved the life of a drowning man.

Floyd Lipscomb, who police said is homeless, tried to pull Slaughter out of the channel. But he did not have the strength to pull Slaughter and his heavy wool coat out of the water, Slaughter said last night from his room at George Washington University Hospital.

So Lipscomb held on tight to Slaughter’s arm and told him: " ‘You’re not going to die tonight. I’m going to hold on to you. I got you,’ " Slaughter said.

Hero, hero, hero.

This morning I saw the odious winger Kellyanne Conway on the Metro. I’m almost certain I saw a slime trail behind her.
