George Allen Assumes All Black Men Play Sports

11:41 am EST April 7th, 2011 | Republicans | 31 Comments

George AllenRemember, just because he used racial epithets, engaged in racial terrorism, and makes racial gaffes – George Allen is not a racist. At all. No sir.

NBC 4’s reporter-anchor Craig Melvin is a tall African-American. Which apparently led to this exchange with former Sen. George Allen, according to Melvin’s Twitter account Tuesday night:

“For the 2nd time in 5 months, fmr. gov. and sen candidate George Allen asks me,”what position did you play?” I did not a play a sport.”

Welcome back, Macaca.

The Return Of Macaca

9:14 pm EST January 23rd, 2011 | Politics, Republicans | 26 Comments

George Allen, racial terrorist (background), once again seeks to infect the U.S. Senate with his particular brand of ignorance.

Former Sen. George Allen will end weeks of speculation and formally declare his candidacy for U.S. Senate in Virginia on Monday, two Republican advisers tell POLITICO.

Allen, who has been making all the moves of a candidate in recent weeks, is expected to blast an e-mail to supporters with a video message before alerting the media.

VA Gov Bob McDonnell’s Privatization Fail

9:32 pm EST November 28th, 2010 | Conservative, Republicans | 5 Comments

Wen conservatives propose these sort of nonsensical things, they should be laughed out of the room. Instead, our media elite likes to pretend that they are very serious. They aren’t.

WHEN HE RAN for governor of Virginia last year, Robert F. McDonnell (R) strategically made the privatization of the state’s hard-liquor sales one of the centerpieces of his campaign. In addition to the idea’s economic merits, he insisted that selling off liquor licenses and other state assets would result in a windfall of $500 million that would do much to address Virginia’s critical shortage of transportation revenue.

Now the General Assembly’s nonpartisan auditors have exposed the governor’s plan – at least the only iteration of it he’s ever made public – as a non-starter. A new study by the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission finds that the so-called windfall from privatizing the state’s liquor sales would be neither the $500 million that Mr. McDonnell advertised in his campaign nor even the $458 million he promised in a subsequent proposal. In fact, it might be less than $300 million – a pittance compared with the state’s needs when it comes to improving and maintaining a badly overburdened network of roads, rails and bridges.

The governor has now revoked his earlier privatization proposal, which, far from being revenue-neutral as he promised, would actually have cost the state nearly $50 million a year. That revenue loss would have negated the “windfall” within a few years. He says that he will present a new plan when the legislature reconvenes in January.

Angering Racist Confederate-Apologists Is Always A Net Positive

2:26 pm EST September 27th, 2010 | History | 28 Comments

We all know Confederate History appreciation in Virginia was all about Bob McDonnell throwing a bone to the racists in his base, and the reaction by one to the end of the honoring tells you all you need to know.

“There was nothing racist about Confederate History Month. It was honoring Confederate soldiers who fought and died for their state”

Yes, confederate soldiers died. They died protecting the ability of white people to own black people. Only a crazy person would think that was racist!

Jim Webb Joins The Turncoat Dems?

9:57 am EST September 22nd, 2010 | Democrats | 22 Comments

Jim WebbIn 2006, Sen. Jim Webb made a lot of noise about working to fix income disparity, etc. As a conservative, recently minted Democrat (Webb served under Reagan) it was refreshing to hear that if not progressive on social causes, he would at least be around on income issues. Now comes word that Webb is one of the Dems who is negotiating some sort of deal on extending the immoral and deficit-increasing tax cuts for the uber rich? What the hell.

A spokesman for Webb (D-VA) told TPM that the senator is negotiating the specifics with the Democratic leadership, talking about potential alternatives to their favored plan being championed by President Obama.

“He is definitely in favor of passing tax cuts,” said Webb spokesman Will Jenkins. “He is still discussing the specifics with his colleagues, but he has said that he thinks the proposed $250,000 cut off level is too low, and he is advocating that it be raised.”

Republicans have made very clear that they’re going to go to the mat for Paris Hilton to keep getting tax cuts, but again I have to ask the question: What is the point of a Democratic majority if they’re just going to keep negotiating for Republican/conservative positions?

In ESPN’s TMQ column, Gregg Easterbrook often argues that the NFL sometimes makes actions that seem to be based on the assumption that it will always be the top sport in America. Similarly, more than a few Democrats in Washington seem to act as if Democratic supporters must back them no matter how Republican they act.

This is not the case.

Bob McDonnell Gets Aid & Comfort From Fellow Confederacy Enthusiast Haley Barbour

5:06 pm EST April 11th, 2010 | History | 17 Comments

Clearly, I say, clearly, they’ve got to stick together on their feelings about the war of northern aggression…

On CNN’s ‘State of the Union,’ Barbour said people already know slavery was a bad thing and that the outcry over McDonnell’s proclamation amounted to making ‘a big deal out of something that doesn’t amount to diddly.’

Barbour’s main point was that Mississippi’s own Democratic-controlled state legislature has adopted similar resolutions in honor of Confederate soldiers, as have Mississippi governors of both parties. Asked by anchor Candy Crowley if McDonnell’s resolution was a mistake, Barbour said, ‘I don’t think so.’

What You Honor When You Celebrate “Confederate History Month”

11:05 am EST April 8th, 2010 | History | 38 Comments

I don’t want to hear this revisionist history b.s. about “southern pride” or “southern heritage”. When you celebrate the confederacy you support the idea of taking up arms against the United States in defense of the continued enslavement of black people. To celebrate the Confederacy is to celebrate human bondage and treason. Period.

With the aid of Bob McDonnell, the south continues to attempt a whitewash of its role in this harmful chapter in American history. To allow the revisionists to be given the gift of a month of celebration of the confederacy is a mark on us all. It spits in the face of the Union soldiers (aka, the American military) and more importantly, the black people who the confederacy fought so damn hard to keep as property.

Property.

NRA Uses Offensive Italian Stereotype To Promote Bob McDonnell

3:53 pm EST October 23rd, 2009 | Uncategorized | 38 Comments

And people wonder why the NRA’s political swagger isn’t what it used to be.

This ad is just clumsy, offensive, and stupid. So yeah, just like the NRA.

The ad is very reminiscent of the ad the conservative Free Enterprise Fund ran against Bob Menendez in 2006. That didn’t work.
