I won’t any longer tolerate the blatant comment hijacking that’s been going on. I’m amazingly lenient with this, but in the last couple months some people think its within their purview to act like this is their blog and post comments that – even with the lax standards I allow – aren’t even remotely related to what’s being talked about.
No mas.

That BBCode thing wasn’t working, so I killed it, re-enabled HTML and the ability to embed images. Just use a standard <img> tag as seen here. Whenever I upgrade WordPress it tends to kill the hack I put in to read img tags, so if you ever see it disappear this means I forgot and just send me an email saying so.
Some of you said you couldn’t edit your comments. If you’re logged in, I think you should be able to do so.
Use the comments to this post to test/respond to all your crazy requests.
Threaded Or Not?
I’m generally pleased with the new theme I’m using (loads much quicker) but I was wondering if you guys preferred threaded comments or flat ones? Its set to threading now (you can reply to a specific comment) but I notice most of you commenting the old way. I don’t have a preference, but lemme know.
UPDATE: Per requests, I have now enabled you all to post comments using BBCode. Here is a quick n dirty layout of what code you can use.
Site Etiquette
Tweet
There are some of you who insist, every day now no matter what the topic to attack each other personally. I’m tired of it. Some of you I’ve contacted via email about it and you persist. Quit while you’re ahead. Otherwise next time you’ll just disappear. I don’t care if you disagree on issues politically, that’s fine. But I don’t care which corner you want to fight on or who’s secretly a drunk or whatever other nonsense. Want to flame each other for that stuff? Use email or your own blog. And those of you doing this know who you are.
Quit it.
In Theory…

The changes I’ve made under the hood for the site should keep it from crashing oh, every 5 minutes or so. Lemme know if you encounter any glitches, and I’ve added back comment preview so that when you guys are flaming each other you at least remain gramatically correct when doing so.

That Sound

Is the sound of me giving up on CSS across 10 million platforms. I swear, tables were so much easier. Back to the old design.
New Layout Thread
Tweet
Okay, so I changed the layout again. I decided to make the look as uncluttered and clean as my meager design skills could muster. I’ve tested it in Firefox, Safari and IE. I know there are some display issues in IE (shocker), but otherwise it looks ok to me. Ideally you should maybe hit shift-refresh so you get the latest version of the site on loading it. Let me know, in the comments. This is how it looks for me (as I intended):

And for the love of God don’t say “it doesn’t look right” and leave it at that. That doesn’t tell me anything. Either gimme a detailed issue or (even better) post a screenshot.
Comments Issues
Tweet
I’m not seeing the disappearing comment issues others are occasionally seeing, but a way around it seems to be logging in to the site versus just posting a comment.
Wiki Wild Wild West

I’ve set up a wiki to drop knowledge or nonsense. Use it if you feel like it, or not. But IT’S THERE.
