Blind Side: Already A Hit?

1:38 am EST November 16th, 2009 | News | 1 Comment

Those commercials for The Blind Side (great book by the way, and I want to see the movie) say that the movie is “already a hit”. The movie hasn’t been released yet. Not even in previews, as far as I can tell, has it earned a single dollar yet. I know these ads aren’t subject to much scrutiny, but they don’t even use wiggle language to say it’s a hit with critics. They just say it’s a hit.

Which isn’t true.

Green Lantern Movie Looking For A Director

green lanternHopefully they’ll have Geoff Johns as some sort of creative consultant. He’s got me reading GL for the first time.

Warner Bros. is negotiating with Martin Campbell to direct ‘Green Lantern,’ the live-action film based on the DC Comics hero.

Campbell last directed ‘Casino Royale’ and recently wrapped the Mel Gibson starrer ‘Edge of Darkness,’ based on the 1985 BBC miniseries that Campbell helmed.

The emergence of Campbell, who also helmed two ‘Zorro’ films and the 007 film ‘GoldenEye,’ puts ‘Green Lantern’ at the top of DC properties being set for movie treatment by WB.

I finally got around to seeing Jerry Seinfeld’s Bee Movie the other day. What a freaking mess. It’s the exact kind of movie that gets made by insular Hollywood types who don’t get it. It’s like the anti-Walt of animated films. This is a movie whose big dramatic moment is a freaking court case. It’s as if Snow White sued the witch for damages after receiving the poisoned apple. Ridiculous! Was there a single child entertained by Bee Movie? Heck, was there a single adult who was entertained by it? The romantic tension was between a Bee and a human!

Bad movie. Bad, bad movie.
