A Steele Disappointment

Michael Steele led the RNC back to power in the House, and increased their numbers in the Senate, why can’t they give a brother a break? C’mon, son.

Michael Steele stepping down as RNC chairman? But where will I find my RNC-related cash funnies???
The Steele Effect
Tweet
While they’ve made up for it via outside money (inlcuding the possibly foreign cash fueling the Chamber of Commerce), it’s still worth noting that the RNC has amazingly ended up with $10 million less than the DNC as far as cash on hand goes. I hope Michael Steele is the RNC chairman forever.
Michael Steele Throws AZ Immigration Law Under The Bus

It’s all strategic.
In an interview Monday with Univision, the nation’s largest Spanish-language network, Republican National Committee Chair Michael Steele distanced the Republican Party from SB-1070, Arizona’s controversial immigration law:
CMF: How do you say that Hispanics are relevant (important) for your party, when you just approved a law in Arizona against immigrants?
STEELE: Well, let’s be clear. The actions of one state’s governor is not a reflection of an entire country, nor is it a reflection of an entire political party. The governor and the people of Arizona made a decision that they thought was in their best interest, and that’s the beauty of a republic, that’s who we are.
GOP Fundraising Problems Could Hamper Gains This Fall

The Wall Street Journal reports on Michael Steele’s latest effort on the behalf of the Democratic party.
Still, the RNC retains a crucial role in election campaigns, managing data on voters and organizing them to go to the polls. Some Republican strategists say its fund-raising gap could hurt the party’s chances in November.
‘We’ve got a tremendous opportunity to win some seats this fall and many of those seats are going to be short-changed on the get-out-the-vote effort,’ said Ed Rollins, a Republican strategist, calling the RNC’s fund-raising performance ‘disastrous.’
The RNC says it has spent heavily on races that have helped revive the party’s fortunes after election routs in 2006 and 2008. It says it isn’t disappointed with its fund raising, which it expects to pick up as the election nears. ‘We’re confident that we’re going to continue to have the resources to put on the ground in key races,’ Doug Heye, an RNC spokesman, said Sunday.
The RNC raised some $5.5 million in July, compared with $11.6 million raised by the Democratic National Committee, according to filings made to the Federal Election Commission on Friday. The DNC had $10.9 million in the bank at the end of July, according to the filings.
About $900,000 of the RNC total came from an insurance settlement, rather than from donations.
More Missing Money For Michael Steele @ The RNC?

Another great move by what can only be a secret Democrat.
New Mexico RNC member Patrick J. Rogers told Treasurer Randy Pullen on committee letterhead that his disclosures about millions of dollars in unreported debt ‘are covered by attorney-client privilege or the fiduciary requirements of corporate officers.’
At one point in his letter, Mr. Rogers, who is Mr. Steele’s appointee to the RNC’s powerful executive committee, tells Mr. Pullen that the ‘dissemination of sensitive information under the circumstances (as I understand them) appears problematic as a legal matter.’
The Rogers letter reached Mr. Pullen on Sunday as the treasurer was preparing to inform budget committee members for the first time that he had uncovered on July 22 ‘approximately $700,000 to $1 million in undisclosed expenditures, some dating back to March.’
RNC Pulls Out Of Breitbart Event?
Is Michael Steele realizing that holding a fundraiser with a race-baiter like Breitbart might be a bad idea, even for the race-insensitive RNC? Maybe.
Right now they’re just saying the event is “postponed.” But my guess is its postponed to the 32nd of Never.
Steele-Breitbart 2010

The RNC is having Andrew Breitbart in for an event, along with Chairman Steele. Besides the studied idiocy of Sarah Palin, is there a better statement about the intellectually dishonest state of the right in America?
On one hand is the incompetent boob of a party chairman, currently under probe for financial shenanigans as party head, and at his side is a charlatan and serial liar who is held up by the right as some form of journalist when what he does is the opposite.
This is their time, this is their moment.
Did Michael Steele Hide $7 Million In RNC Debt?
Steele, baby. You’re making this too easy.
The RNC failed to report more than $7 million in debt to the FEC in recent months — ‘a move that made its bottom line appear healthier than it is heading into the midterm elections and that also raises the prospect of a hefty fine,’ the Washington Times reports.
RNC Treasurer Randy Pullen accused Chairman Michael Steele ‘of trying to conceal the information from him by ordering staff not to communicate with the treasurer — a charge RNC officials deny.’
