Spider-Man Writer Michael Bendis On Pissing Off Glenn Beck
Tweet
Michael Bendis is the writer behind Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man, and he enjoyed Glenn Beck’s freakout over the new multiracial Spidey.
The announcement that Miles would be the star of Bendis and Pichelli’s new Spider-Man series received a lot of media attention, far more than Bendis had foreseen. “The media stuff has been crazy surreal. Like I said, Joe [Quesada] saw it coming a year ago, but I don’t see how we control any of that stuff. We hit a slow news day twice with the death of Spider-Man. It was really cool and I’m very grateful, but this one was surreal,” Bendis said. “We pissed off Glenn Beck, and that was amazing. I don’t think Glenn Beck is an idiot because he’s a conservative. I literally think he’s just an idiot. Regardless of his belief system, he’s just a lunatic. So that was hilarious. Not that I’m going out of my way to find ways to piss people like that off, but boy is it so nice when you do it by accident. I told my wife that she doesn’t have to get me anything for my birthday because nothing will make me happier than this made me. I was happy all day.”

Not that being George W. Bush’s understudy didn’t already disqualify him, but palling around with Glenn Beck is the sign of a supreme moron.

Beck’s Israel Travel Partner Got An “F” From Better Business Bureau
One of the travel companies chosen by Glenn Beck to provide travel arrangements and tickets for his “Restoring Courage” rally in Israel has closely related businesses that have received “C-” and “F” ratings from the Better Business Bureau. Beck previously cited a company’s “A+” rating as an example of its trustworthiness.

The End Of Glenn Beck?

It probably says a little something when someone is too out of it even for Fox News:
But a funny thing happened on the way from the revolution. Since last August, when he summoned more than 100,000 followers to the Washington mall for the “Restoring Honor” rally, Mr. Beck has lost over a third of his audience on Fox — a greater percentage drop than other hosts at Fox. True, he fell from the great heights of the health care debate in January 2010, but there has been worrisome erosion — more than one million viewers — especially in the younger demographic.
He still has numbers that just about any cable news host would envy and, with about two million viewers a night, outdraws all his competition combined. But the erosion is significant enough that Fox News officials are willing to say — anonymously, of course; they don’t want to be identified as criticizing the talent — that they are looking at the end of his contract in December and contemplating life without Mr. Beck.
Beck’s problem is that he took the “oooh I’m scared of Obama (and his black skin)” sentiment and thought it was a way to make himself into a national leader of more than just a fringe of the fringe. As a result, he’s made his conspiracies even more ridiculous and tried the patience of even the tinfoil-hat brigade.

Is Glenn Beck Just Rupert Murdoch’s Anti-Google Attack Dog?
The latest target of Glenn Beck’s reality-deficient conspiracy theories has been Google. According to Beck, Google has been working hand-in-hand with the U.S. government in order to assist an alliance of Islamic radicals and socialists to take over the world. Or something.
But is Beck just doing some dirty work on behalf of News Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch?
Murdoch has gone on the record numerous times criticizing Google. Specifically, Murdoch has complained that by aggregating news content, Google is stealing News Corp.’s content. Murdoch went so far as to describe Google’s activities as “steal[ing] all our copyrights” and “steal[ing] our stories.”
Murdoch’s accusations have been widely ridiculed.

Shorter Beck: The revolution in Egypt means Communists are working with Islamic extremists to take over the world. They used the word “change” once and so did Obama, so…
It’s only a matter of time before Beck accuses Bill O. of being part of the New World Order, and who am I to say he isn’t? Heh.

The Lies Of Glenn Beck & Jonah Goldberg: Mussolini Edition
Tweet
I don’t know why anyone takes conservatives seriously on anything, let alone history.
Following in the footsteps of Jonah Goldberg, Glenn Beck has repeatedly taken a quote from a 1923 New York Times article out of context and portrayed the newspaper as praising Italian dictator Benito Mussolini. In fact, the Times was quoting a magazine writer, and immediately following the portion of the quote Beck and Goldberg repeated, the writer called Mussolini “a danger to the peace of Europe.”
