Getting What They Wanted

8:03 am EST September 27th, 2010 | Conservative | 36 Comments

I can’t say I have much sympathy for gay conservatives even remotely miffed at their invited speaker, Ann Coulter. What did they expect? Conservatives don’t like gay people, and they never will. Furthermore if you’re a conservative who is gay (or black or female or middle class or lower class or anything that’s not a well off white male) you’ve chosen to associate with a movement that’s against you and doesn’t like you. Don’t be surprised, embrace the self-loathing.

Does Maryland’s Benjamin Lawless Think Bill Clinton “Was A Very Good Rapist”?

2:25 pm EST August 4th, 2010 | Maryland | 1 Comment

Benjamin Lawless, candidate for State Senate in Maryland’s 8th Legislative district is hosting conservative columnist/pundit Ann Coulter for a fundraiser. Coulter is infamous for her crude, disgusting remarks that have created a following for her among conservative fans.

But if Benjamin Lawless is hosting her, does he agree with her assertion that Bill Clinton “was a very good rapist”? Does he agree with her lie that President Obama was educated at a Madrassa? Does Benjamin Lawless agree with his guest Coulter that Muslims can’t be peaceful? Does he, like Coulter, think Hillary Clinton’s name should be “Douche”?

What kind of people does Benjamin Lawless pal around with?

Ann Coulter Shows How Liars On The Right Work

12:48 am EST February 11th, 2010 | News | 80 Comments

I don’t take Ann Coulter seriously, and even on the right she isn’t the star she used to be (they’ve moved on to people like Beck, Hannity, and Palin) but in her latest screed she provides a classic example of the dishonesty that forms the spine of conservative discourse:

The problem was that Goldman and AIG, among many others, knew they wouldn’t lose. Twenty years of Democratic bailouts have led them to understand that when their bets go bad, the taxpayer will save them.

Which is exactly what happened.

When the earthquake hit toxic securities, the insurer, AIG, couldn’t pay up. Normally, that would result in the insurer going bankrupt, an orderly proceeding in bankruptcy court to distribute AIG’s assets, and Goldman recovering only a portion of the insurance payout on the crappy products.

But instead of AIG going bankrupt and Goldman taking a hit, the U.S. taxpayer made good on AIG’s securities insurance. In a deal arranged by former Goldman CEO and current Obama BFF, Hank Paulson, Goldman ended up being paid — by you — an astonishing 100 cents on the dollar.

I don’t know about you, but I’m pissed. I’m pissed that Barack Obama worked with Hank Paulson to bailout AIG. I mean, Christ, how could they—

Wait, what’s that? You say that AIG was bailed out in September of 2008? But in September of 2008, Barack Obama was the junior senator from Illinois and the Democratic nominee for President!

But Hank Paulson, he’s an Obama “BFF” as Coulter puts it. Surely he was doing the bidding of Obama at the time. He–

Huh? Hank Paulson was treasury secretary, but he was treasury secretary for… George W. Bush?

I’m so confused. Ann Coulter wrote her column as if Hank Paulson bailed out AIG at the behest of President Obama. But in reality, the bailout of AIG, like the other bailouts, happened under Hank Paulson on the orders of his boss George W. Bush?

And this George W. Bush, he’s one of those Republicans?

REALLY?!

But that would mean that Coulter’s column was a giant steaming pile of crap, designed to make the most gullible people believe that the economic collapse and bailouts happened on the Democrat’s watch.

That’s like trying to pretend as if 9/11 didn’t happen when Bush was president. Ridiculous!

Still Idiots

12:00 am EST January 17th, 2009 | News | 57 Comments

Ann Coulter, in an interview with Rush Limbaugh (sort of like Vader kneeling before the Emperor), accuses Markos of Daily Kos of having an unintelligible accent. Not that it matters, but Markos doesn’t have an accent. I’m sure that’s just the surface of the lies, but these are two of the leading “thinkers” on the right. So… enjoy life in the minority.
