Joe Miller’s Private Guards Handcuff Journalists
Tweet
The GOP desperate for power, has given over their party to the Tea Party. As a result, extremists are running wild. Expect more of this.
The editor of the Alaska Dispatch website was arrested by U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller’s private security guards Sunday as the editor attempted to interview Miller at the end of a public event in an Anchorage school.
Tony Hopfinger was handcuffed by the guards and detained in a hallway at Central Middle School until Anchorage police came and told the guards to release Hopfinger.
Hopfinger has not been charged but the owner of the Drop Zone, the private security firm that’s been providing Miller’s security, accused Hopfinger of trespassing at the public event, a town hall sponsored by the Miller campaign. The owner, William Fulton, also said Hopfinger assaulted a man by shoving him.
Alaska’s Joe Miller Compares Lisa Murkowski To A Prostitute

Via Greg Greene, leading Republican senate candidate and Tea Party-endorsed Joe Miller reacts to news that GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski might run on the Libertarian line by comparing her to a prostitute:

Oh, GOP, sometimes the mask slips.
NRSC Sending Lawyer To Help Murkowski

This must mean Democratic Disarray!
The top lawyer for the Republicans’ Senate campaign committee is heading to Alaska to help Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who is trailing in the primary vote.
Murkowski asked Sean Cairncross to help her campaign prepare for the counting of as many as 16,000 absentee ballots cast before Tuesday’s primary. Republican officials say the National Republication Senatorial Committee’s chief counsel will spend a few days in Alaska.
A Tea-Palin Test

Tomorrow’s primary in Alaska pits a Palin-endorsed, Tea Party supported candidate against GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski. What if he loses? I mean, this is Palin’s home state after all and she’s supposed to be a political powerhouse, at least inside GOP circles…
Alaska Senate Candidate Joe Miller Supports Privatizing Social Security

In addition, he seems to think that federal unemployment assistance is unconstitutional.
“The unemployment compensation benefits have gotten — first of all, it’s not constitutionally authorized,” Miller, R-Alaska, said on ABC/Washington Post’s “Top Line.” “I think that’s the first thing that’s gotta be looked at, so I do not favor their extension.”
…
“I think it’s absolutely critical that the government keep its contract with the seniors that are currently dependent on Social Security,” Miller said. “The first, I think, bit of order that we’ve got to get in place is financial solvency. But yeah — ultimately, we’ve got to transition out of the Social Security arrangement and go into more of a privatization. And you know, it’s not that radical of an idea. … . It’s a system that is broken, and so there does have to be change, there has to be transition. But for now, those that are dependent on it — we’ve got to keep those obligations and commitments.”
Needless to say (probably because they reportedly hate each other), this guy got Sarah Palin’s endorsement going up against Lisa Murkowski. This guy, Scott McAdams, seems to be the only legit Democrat in this race, perhaps he’s been given a gift?
Tea Party Express Targets Lisa Murkowski

Right wing group attacks very right-wing senator. Must mean Democratic infighting. The Tea Party Express group (which is run by a racist and bigot) just emailed this out:

Sarah Palin Echoes Roberto Duran: NO MAS!

Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin gave her final speech as Alaska’s governor Sunday before stepping down from her post, telling a Fairbanks crowd that she is resigning ‘to chart a new course to advance the state.’
‘Now people who know me, they know how much I love this state … I feel it is my duty to avoid the unproductive, typical, politics-as-usual, lame-duck session in one’s last year in office,’ Palin said, just moments before Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell was sworn in as governor.
‘With this decision, now I will be able to fight even harder for you, for what is right and for the truth,’ Palin continued. ‘And I have never felt you need a title to do that.’
Bless her whackjob heart, she remains incomprehensible to the end. She somehow made quitting her job mid-term into doing her “duty” by quitting so she wouldn’t be involved in the last year of governing. Or something. We knew all about conservatives and their disdain for actual governing (they prefer to run for office, cut taxes for the wealthy, deregulate big business then sit back and reap the profits as infrastructure crumbles) but this is a new low watermark. The Palin mark.
Investigator Finds Palin May Have Violated Ethics Laws

The sudden resignation explained?
An independent investigator has found evidence that Gov. Sarah Palin may have violated ethics laws by accepting private donations to pay her legal debts.
The report obtained by The Associated Press says Palin is securing unwarranted benefits and receiving improper gifts through the Alaska Fund Trust, set up by supporters.
An investigator for the state Personnel Board says in his July 14 report that there is probable cause to believe Palin used or attempted to use her official position for personal gain because she authorized the creation of the trust as the ‘official’ legal defense fund.
Sarah Palin Even Screws Up Her Resignation

Palin power!
The Legislature’s top lawyer, Tam Cook, has come out with an opinion that Craig Campbell can’t become the lieutenant governor on July 26.
But she conceded that it’s muddy and there are unresolved legal questions.
July 26th is the day Palin is to resign as governor and hand power over Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell. Palin picked Campbell, who is the head of the state department of military and veterans affairs, to replace Parnell as the lieutenant governor.
But the state Legislature already confirmed a line of succession under which corrections commissioner Joe Schmidt should be taking over as lieutenant governor.

They’ll be taking the stimulus and ignoring their silly national joke of a governor.
Top Alaska legislators said Tuesday they’re likely to accept at least most of the federal economic stimulus money that Gov. Sarah Palin did not.
“I think at the end of the day we will end up taking most of the funds,” said Anchorage Republican Rep. Mike Hawker, who is leading the House effort on the stimulus as co-chairman of the finance committee.
Senate Majority Leader Johnny Ellis agreed. “I would be surprised if we give up much or any of the federal money,” the Anchorage Democrat said.
