“Less than two weeks before Election Day, Barack Obama leads John McCain 49 percent to 40 percent among likely voters, according to a FOX News poll released Wednesday. Obama’s advantage comes mainly from independents, and from the fact that more voters identify themselves as Democrats these days and almost all of them back their party’s nominee. Eighty-eight percent of Democrats support Obama, and 83 percent of Republicans back McCain. Independents break 44 percent to 35 percent in Obama’s favor. In addition to independents, white Catholics are another important swing voting group and they support Obama 50 percent to 39 percent. White Catholics have voted for the winner in each of the last four presidential elections.” [Link]

As an african american, who has lived in Arizona for seven years.I for one was very impressed with Sen Mcclain. In fact even though i am a democract I was satisified with who ever would have been President with Hillary, Barack or John. However, the tone that now comes from Mcclain’s campagain the videos and pictures of people calling Obama a terroist, pictures of watermelon and chicken and now the S word unforuntely concludes that the Republican party “base” just does not want a black man to be in office. I feel for my black republican brothers who have to witness this but if it walks like a duck talk like a duck then it must be a duck(republican duck that is). This campaign that Sen mcClain chose to pursue will set back Black preceptions of the republican party for years to come just listen to what Rush Limbaugh said today about Obama throwing his white grandmother under the bus. In closing, i currently live in a red state Alabama, seriously looked at moving over to the right but now i know I am not really wanted. Thank you for opening my eyes
