Viewed through my eyes, the likely Clinton wins in West Virginia and Kentucky are sort of like the touchdowns scored by John Elway in Superbowl XXII. They were nice and all, but they ignore the fact that this happened. For our purposes Barack Obama = Doug Williams.

The Redskins still have the weirdest running back in the league.
Santana Moss is having a birthday blowout.
The Washington Redskins cheerleaders were brought in to show India’s cricket fans how to shake their pompoms — but not everyone was impressed.
The New Delhi team said Wednesday it was switching its cheerleaders for a band of drummers. Mumbai politicians have forced theirs to cover up, saying their performances were lewd and not appropriate for India’s traditional culture.
…
The backlash began in Mumbai last week when lawmakers from the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party pressed to get cheerleaders banned from the home games of the local team, the Mumbai Indians.
“See the pictures of these girls in the newspapers? This is not something you can allow inside your house, or something that you can look at in the presence of your sister or daughter,” said Nitin Gadkari, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s president for the state of Maharashtra. Mumbai is its capital.
“It may be a good thing for America, for the U.S.A., it’s not a good thing for India, for our kind of culture,” Gadkari said.
Police vowed to keep scantily clad dancers out of public view.
“We will take action,” said Mumbai police officer Ramrao Wagh. “The government has said it will not allow obscenities on the field.” He did not elaborate.
He thinks the Redskins will pick Limas Sweed at #21. I do hope they pick a wide receiver because more than anything the passing game nearly kept them out of the playoffs last season. Santana Moss can only do so much and while Antwaan Randle El has his moments he isn’t a go-to spectacular guy on play after play. They sure haven’t had a real receiver at #3 with the horrific Brandon Lloyd just taking up space.
I really hate not having Coach Gibbs around, because for whatever few faults he had it was steady and calm. With Jim Zorn, I literally have no idea what to expect. He has no NFL head coaching experience and could be a placeholder, a hall of famer, or another bust like Steve Spurrier.

“The Washington Redskins Cheerleaders, deemed the ‘First Ladies of Football,’ will be traveling to India on April 10th to create the first ever cheerleading squad in that country for cricket’s Royal Challengers Bangalore, part of the new Indian Premier League (IPL), in their inaugural game on April 18th.”
But of course they are.
More from the release: Twelve cheerleaders, 18 days, four cricket games, a second wave of training and the following claim: “By the time this project is complete, the Redskins Cheerleading department will have spent over 10 weeks creating a new cheerleading world in India.”
A whole new world, folks.
Jason Reid has confirmed that the Redskins and New York Giants will play in the NFL season opener Thursday (Sept. 4) at Giants Stadium. An official announcement is expected to come Monday at the annual owners’ meetings in Florida.
The Redskins cut WR Brandon Lloyd. I caught almost as many passes as he did last year.
Time’s up for Cinderella. But they did much more than I ever thought they would.
Hail to them.
The idea that Joe Gibbs was going to be let go was so ridiculous.
With a game crucial to their playoff hopes coming up Sunday night against the Minnesota Vikings, the Washington Redskins have offered a two-year contract extension to head coach Joe Gibbs, according to a source.
Owner Daniel Snyder has said he’s confident he can convince the Hall of Fame coach, who is in his second stint with the Redskins, to stay in Washington.
It’s possible that Gibbs may not sign up for two more years, but I doubt he wants to leave on a down note. Plus, we got a game to play tonight.
Please. Please. Football Gods. Please.
Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor died early Tuesday from the gunshot wound he suffered a day earlier in his Miami home.
“He did not make it through the night,” said Taylor’s attorney, Richard Sharpstein, who called the incident “a ridiculous, unnecessary tragedy.”
Taylor, 24, a Pro Bowl safety whose rocky first years in the NFL had given way to what teammates called a newfound maturity, died at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he had been taken after being shot once in the leg early Monday morning. Police are investigating the incident as a possible home invasion.
Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor was shot at his Florida home early Monday and was hospitalized in critical condition, police and relatives said.
Miami-Dade police officials said police received a 1:45 a.m. call from a woman inside Taylor’s residence in the affluent suburb of Palmetto Bay, saying that a man had been shot. Ambulance crews found the 24-year-old defensive star struck in the lower extremities, Lt. Nancy Perez said.
The Redskins have a habit of losing games in the weirdest ways. Aside from the blowout loss to the Patriots, all this season’s four losses have worked out like today’s game. You sit, and you watch, and they play pretty good overall but on the critical moments of the game they just die.
That was the sound of the Redskins giving away the game to the sorry Giants. What the heck was that third quarter?!! Ick. Anyway, suck it up and move on.
Sure, a big downfield pass looks pretty and makes the highlights on Sportscenter, but I like it when the Skins just pound the ball down the throat of the other team.

Washington’s winning formula rarely changes: stout defense and inspired running. Portis, who set a franchise rushing mark in 2005, watched Betts prosper last year and has bristled at suggestions he may be in decline. After a pedestrian start yesterday, he and Betts led a 191-yard rushing attack against a run-hostile opponent. Although, they had only 76 yards on 20 carries through three quarters (3.8-yard average), they had 81 yards on 14 rushes the rest of the way (a 5.8-yard average). They set up Shaun Suisham’s 44-yard field goal for a brief fourth-quarter lead, and Suisham’s 39-yard game winner less than six minutes into overtime.“I came in at halftime and talked with Ladell, and he just told me to calm down,” Portis said. “And I calmed down in the second half and everything turned out all right.”
And if teams are worried about PorBetts, that will open up Randle El, Moss and Lloyd for catches.
In order for the Washington Redskins to be successful in 2006-7 they need to score points. For the Redskins to score points, it is ideal that the following four players be as healthy as humanly possible. In order:
1. Jason Campbell (QB)
2. Clinton Portis (RB)
3. Santana Moss (WR)
4. Ladell Betts (RB)
And yet, I read this in today’s paper:
After injuring his left knee in the Washington Redskins’ second preseason game on Aug. 18, quarterback Jason Campbell is set to start tomorrow night in the team’s preseason finale at Jacksonville. Meanwhile, tailback Clinton Portis, who has missed nearly all of training camp with tendinitis in his right knee, returned for yesterday’s practice and also could play, Coach Joe Gibbs said.
There is no need for the starting QB and RB to play in today’s game. The game means nothing. There is no upside to playing them and exposing them to even the possibility of harm. The first game that counts is 10 (!) days away. In addition to me hating the preseason, did you know that God hates it too? You’re a very religious man Coach Gibbs, so you can’t have thought it was a coincidence that last Saturday’s game versus the Ravens was interrupted by a thunderstorm by accident?
That was a sign: The Lord Hateth The Preseason.
What should be done is for the four aforementioned players to be sealed in protective Nerf-like spheres and locked away from the world until the night of the 8th. It’s the right thing to do. Don’t play them.
Please.
Next to the hurricane and my mom,
this was my biggest concern this weekend:
Washington Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell suffered nothing more serious than a bruise during Saturday night’s preseason game, tests reaffirmed yesterday. Campbell underwent a late-morning MRI exam that showed no serious damage, team officials said.
Campbell and Redskins Coach Joe Gibbs said it will be determined later in the week whether Campbell will play Saturday’s preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Why is the starting QB for the Redskins endangered this way in a game that MEANS NOTHING? Sheesh.
Otherwise, the starters looked pretty good this week, especially the defense and second-year linebacker Rocky McIntosh.
I’m loathe to overemphasize preseason, but the ‘Skins starters apparently sucked wind. Well, I guess it’s better if they do it now than when the games start to count.
And Redskins offensive line? No more of this please. You must protect Mr. Jason Campbell’s life with every fiber of your being.
And that’s saying something.
Washington Redskins fan Kevin McCarthy of Germantown, Md., shows off his tattoo with the names of the Redskins Hall of Fame members during the first day of the NFL football team’s training camp in Ashburn, Va., Friday, July 27, 2007.
OMG. OMG. OMG. IT’S ALMOST HERE. OMG. I MISSED YOU SO MUCH. OMG.

Behind the pearly whites of Redskins QB Jason Campbell lies the keys to the success or failure of an entire team and the psychological well-being of the DC Metro Area.

Dear Lord, look over Redskins QB Jason Campbell. May his arm always be strong and its aim true, and for the love of Jesus protect him from all harm so that you may not have to hear curses emanate from a superfan in Takoma Park, MD if Mark Brunell comes into the game. Amen.
That’s right. Four days.
And kickoff to the 2007-8 season? Just a little smidge over a month away (September 9th).
OMG!!!!!!!!!!
Ladies, be sure to pick up your NFL licensed official Washington Redskins "Siesta Thong" today before it’s too late.
Three months to go before the magic starts again.
Hallelujah and please protect Jason Campbell, amen.

The guy may be the best player and my favorite on the Redskins, but it doesn’t excuse his reprehensible remarks on dog fighting.
Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis defended Michael Vick by ridiculing the notion that dog fighting is considered a crime.
Portis said that if the Atlanta Falcons quarterback is charged and convicted of being involved in a dog fighting operation, then authorities would be “putting him behind bars for no reason.”
I’ve always thought dog fighting was barbaric, but in the last 8 years since I’ve been a pet owner of an awesome dog I don’t get how anyone could do that to an animal.
I’m not sure what to think about the ‘Skins picking Landry. I kind of expected them to go linebacker or defensive line instead of secondary, especially since we already have one of the harder hitting safeties in Sean Taylor. The upside is, LaRon Landry is a lot like Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, Lori Lemaris….
