I ran into commenter Gyuss Baaltar on the street on in DC today totally randomly.
(Don’t post any BSG spoilers. I’m in season 3 now.)

There is something in this room that I want and I will have it. So help me Dog.
Yes, yes, you have a new camera. Nice. Open the frakking door!
Thats better.
Bonus: This fire alarm is in the hallway outside my apartment, and I don’t trust it. I don’t think if there was a fire and I pulled that lever anything would actually happen.
I’m planning on attending this event with McCain and Obama tomorrow (thanks to Mediabloggers). I’m probably more interesting in observing the press than the candidates at this point. I’ll report on if there’s any actual swooning for McCain.
Merry Christmas everyone…
Anybody playing? Oh my God, I love that game.
Still feel the same.
In case you missed it, my favorite weather - snow - is coming down in the DC Metro Area right now. Just in time for my 3-0 tomorrow. Yay.
As we move into Thanksgiving mode here (on the morrow I depart to Hotlanta, GA to see my family), I should note that while I love Thanksgiving - especially the Macy’s parade which I’ve never seen in person but will, soon - I hate turkey. It takes forever to get down and then digest. Yuck, yuck, yuck.
But ham and candied yams…
Well, I didn’t become a Sears Husky through magic, you know.
So, I was thinking the other day, I don’t know any conservatives. Sure, there are a few people who are regulars on my site that I’ve interacted with in a friendly
manner, but in the “real” world I just don’t know any conservatives. This isn’t by design. When I’ve made friends I don’t give them a litmus test of asking who they voted for or anything like that (although the ones that do vote all voted for Clinton, Gore and Kerry as far as I know). It doesn’t help that I’ve lived in areas that would be considered very liberal - Takoma Park, MD, Boston, MA, Los Angeles, CA and Fort Lauderdale, FL. I didn’t move to those places because they were liberal, I just moved to them because I liked the place or because of work (with the exception of Fort Lauderdale - that was 10 years of childhood that’s all my mom’s fault).
My close circle of friends vary from way more liberal than me to libertarian. And the few that are libertarian are more interested in just not ever paying taxes more than any honest economic theory. In general, I tend to be the more conservative one in my group of friends. My dynamic with my mom is probably even weirder than most in that I’m way more conservative than she is. Let’s just say I’m the one usually arguing with her that no, we can’t just take away Bill Gates’ money and give it to the poor because he has “too much”. Heh.
I’m guessing that’s part of why I don’t get conservatism. Not a single person I interact with regularly could conceivably be called a Bush supporting Republican. Maybe if I knew anyone that far gone I might be a bit more forgiving. Although my friends would likely say that isn’t remotely true.
I’m just saying. Thought I would put that out there.
Hey, I’m looking for someone with design/css chops to redesign this site professionally for me (finally). If this is you, please email me.
Well, our draft was just finished, and my strategy to pick Peyton Manning in the first round was thwarted. Still, I’m still relatively pleased. Yes, I know I have a lot of Redskins players. It’s hard to avoid for me.
QB Philip Rivers
WR Isaac Bruce
WR Eddie Kennison
WR Drew Bennett
RB Clinton Portis
RB Ladell Betts
TE Chris Cooley
K Joe Nedney
DEF New England
I have one fantasy football slot left open in my league. Speak now, for the draft is coming up quick. If you haven’t received an invite yet, I don’t know you want in.
So my mom’s okay, and her part of Jamaica seems to have weathered the storm relatively well considering. Kingston seems to have been the biggest mess, as it’s the largest population center and took the hardest of the storm’s winds. I was surprised that my mom’s cell phone service stayed so steady - only going out for about 2 hours - and is currently up. The power is still off and probably will be for some time.
Talked to my mom this morning, they’re going to be turning off power island-wide at about 10am as a precaution. Based on the weather channel it seems the eye is going to wobble slightly to the south, which is a good sign. They’re still going to get whacked really hard, but not at the maximum strength it appears.
Here’s a Flickr feed coming in from Jamaica.

The Gleaner, the major newspaper in Jamaica, is blogging hurricane developments. My mom got all her preparedness-related materials ready as best as can be. Thankfully she’s in a very solidly constructed house and inland and elevated where there shouldn’t be flooding and the like. Still, when a storm bigger than the entire island is coming right at you… sheesh.
Damn you, stupid hurricane.
A: Uh, YES???!!!! How is this even a question, people?
Of course pets are family. Jeez. Growing up I never owned more than a goldfish because I was afraid of dogs, now I regret that so much because I’ve had CK with me for 7 years and every day with the pooch is so awesome I know I would have loved to have a small dog as a kid.
Tell this face he isn’t part of the family, for the love of…

According to Microsoft, I’ll be getting back my XBox 360 from repair this week (finally) and rather than play yet another season of Madden 2007 before 2008 comes out, I’m thinking of buying All Pro 2008. Anyone played it and had an impression?
So I went ahead and created a forum. It is located here. Please check it out, sign up, post fun stuff, whatever. I’m not really sure what will happen with it, but it might be fun, so… go.
