Isn’t the leader of Germany the Prime Minister? I have to wonder what McCain does pay attention to because it isn’t much.

Meh. Considering the amount of information a presidential candidate needs to master and the amount of talking they have to do I do not think it matters if you slip up on who the president of Germany is or which concentration camp your relative liberated.

Now if it happens over and over again (Sunni v Shia for example) then it says something but otherwise it matters very little.

Germany has both Prime Minister and President. The leader of the country is Prime Minister (nowadays Angela Merkel) and the President (Horst Kohler) has purely ceremonial job (we call them wreath setters). And McCain is soo confused (BTW, Putin is new Russian Prime Minister).

I just watched a youtube classic where the mighty rhetorical giant Obama seemed to have no clue where he was, what he was doing, he went off on a nonsensical rant ostensibly about Iraq.

Here is a clue, THESE GUYS ARE TIRED!

Both of these guys are going to make gaffes, EVERY presidential candidate has made such mistakes, repeatedly. This is one of the first elections where every jackass and their cousin can videotape them and put in on youtube so that a bunch of wannabee’s like us can second guess them.

Some *SPEAK* arabic in Afghanistan, as well as farsi and pashto. Particularly considering how many jihadis and people connected to the Taliban were foreigners from arab speaking countries. And some Afghani writing is a mix of persian and arabic. Imagine that, Mr. Information Superhighway. At snark, u fail. Go back to clown college.

Imagine that indeed, but we do not need any more, there is not a shortage.

The shortage of translators in Afganistan is for Pashtu and Dari, not Arabic.

We do need more Arabic Translators in Iraq however. Kurdish is less of a problem in many areas.

Also, I do not like clowns. They creep me out. Why would I want to go to school with them?

Being a German I don’t think that everyone in the States has to know the name of our head of state. Germany is a small country after all.

However, a presidential candidate should know things like that. At the moment McCain is very - very - unpopular here in Germany. Well, he doesn’t have to care about us. But in return we don’t care about him, let alone support anything he says or does.
