President Bush’s comparison of any Democrat to Nazi appeasers is both offensive and outrageous on the face of it, especially in light of his failures in foreign policy. This is the kind of statement that has no place in any presidential address and certainly to use an important moment like the 60th anniversary celebration of Israel to make a political point seems terribly misplaced. Unfortunately, this is what we’ve come to expect from President Bush.

Hoping it lasts
Between today and yesterday’s unequivocal announcement that it would be wrongheaded for Clinton supporters to vote McCain, it seems like the Hillary I liked–not just the one I respected–is coming back.
I fondly recall, back in teh day, when Iraq War Opponents were ridiculed as “appeasers”. Good times.
Wanting the US out of Iraq isn’t at ALL like Chamberlain & the League of Nations appeasing Hitler in 1938 over Czechlosovakia … in fact, given 3 years of war-drums over Iran, it’s more like trying to make Hitler get out of the Sudetenland before he gets too cocky not to want the whole enchilada.
Anti-war = appeasement? Just imagine how much better off the world would be today if there’d been a strong & organized enough anti-war solidarity movement to thoroughly cut off the Nazis’ money pipelines before they got into power - they were technically bankrupt so many times they lost count, but someone from the Junkers (or even Wall Street) always mamaged to bail them out & keep their evil circus from going under.
Bush’s comments are especially funny considering the facts that just came to light of the Bush family profiting from Nazism. Prescott Bush had company assets seized in 1942 for Trafficing with the Enemy.

I don’t get why this Prescott Bush stuff is suddenly such a big deal. The info has been out there for years - didn’t Bill Hicks have some stuff about it in his act and he died 14 years ago.
