Clinton Supporter Sidney Blumenthal Using The Right Wing Noise Machine To Kneecap Obama

Sidney Blumenthal Uses Former Right-Wing Foes To Attack Obama

Almost every day over the past six months, I have been the recipient of an email that attacks Obama’s character, political views, electability, and real or manufactured associations. The original source of many of these hit pieces are virulent and sometimes extreme right-wing websites, bloggers, and publications. But they aren’t being emailed out from some fringe right-wing group that somehow managed to get my email address. Instead, it is Sidney Blumenthal who, on a regular basis, methodically dispatches these email mudballs to an influential list of opinion shapers — including journalists, former Clinton administration officials, academics, policy entrepreneurs, and think tankers — in what is an obvious attempt to create an echo chamber that reverberates among talk shows, columnists, and Democratic Party funders and activists. One of the recipients of the Blumenthal email blast, himself a Clinton supporter, forwards the material to me and perhaps to others.

What? Sidney is using the email to give folks links to stuff they can find in the interweb?

What a strange thing to do!

That’s a shame. Sidney Blumenthal wrote perhaps the best book on the Clinton presidency and now he’s pushing right-wing hate into the Democratic primary.

Ironically, he was smeared by the same right wing hate machine (the Drudge wife beater allegations) but if it can be used to smear Obama he is all for it. Not unlike his mentor Hillary, I might add, who runs hat in hand to Murdoch, O’Reilly and Scaife if it gives her a platform to lie about Obama.

Well, when your regular Left Wing Noise Machine resources are committed to kneecapping your own candidate, you have to find another delivery system somewhere.

    I guess bi-partisanship isn’t dead after all.

    Shocking!!!

    Not.

    Right on, Quaker.

Feels to me like more Obamabot attempts to fuel indignation and fire up a flagging base.

So, Sidney Blumenthal has a mailing list to whom he sends out summaries and collections of what the current media, right- and left-wing is saying??

    Shocking.

But it’s sorta like what Ollie does here every day, though, ain’t it?

Wellstone: So, Sidney Blumenthal has a mailing list to whom he sends out summaries and collections of what the current media, right- and left-wing is saying??

    Shocking.

But that doesn’t seem to be what he’s doing. He’s not just sending out a balanced summary of the news from both ends of the political spectrum as you seem to be implying. He’s sending out selected parts, NOT culled from a balanced selection of sources, and clearly heavy on the anti-Obama.

Why such a visceral denial reaction to having that pointed out?

Yes, except I don’t push links to AIM, Human Events, Free Republic, and rarely do I link to National Review or The Weekly Standard besides to ridicule them. I very occasionally link to Fox News and usually use AP, Reuters, MSNBC, CNN and liberal bloggers.

But then, I’m a Democrat who supports the Democratic party and don’t think it wise to prop up right wing media outlets to hurt a fellow Democrat, you ass.

Hmm… Oliver calling people an ass?

I hope you meant a donkey, as in Democrat Donkey.

Look, that post was irresponsible of you to post, Ollie. The only reason you did it was to strike at Hillary.

If you go to the SOURCE, it says that Blumenthal also posted this stuff to people like Joe Conason, who is a Lib-Left warrior who wrote the bestseller “The Hunting of the President” and would certainly not be likely to support or push Right-wing sources or agendas forward.

And the SOURCE of this little smear uses it as a hitjob on Blumenthal, without EVER proving that Sidney has the intention of “propping up right wing media outlets”.

This was a load of crap, Ollie, and you know it,

Sidney Blumenthal is no fool Wellstone, though you seem to be. When Blumenthal posts links from Freak Republic and Human Events, he knows that they have a very low chance of being truthful. But as long as they bash Obama, they are ok.

On the other hand, since you seem to think that Human Events and Newsmax have validity, can I post some interesting ones about Hillary? There’s some interesting things about the Vince Foster case that I think you would benefit from reading. Not to mention that Hillary’s husband was running drugs from Mena airport and that Hillary hung condoms on the White House Christmas tree. Did you know that Hillary stole the White House china and trashed the White House when her husband left office? Though they are conspicuously missing from Blumenthal’s emails, I can post links if you want. LMK.

Don’t forget about the pr0n stash left behind on Air Force One, EL.

Oh right, that wasn’t true either.
