Q: Why is Hillary Clinton losing the Democratic nomination?

A: Because of headlines like this one: “Opponents Call Obama ‘Out of Touch’” When you and the conservative Republican nominee regularly line up on the same side rhetorically, it’s a sign that you may not be the one the Democratic party is looking for.

After her remarks, aides to Mrs. Clinton issued several statements criticizing Mr. Obama, including ones that contained criticism from Republicans.

Well, at least we know where (and with whom) she stands and who is writing her talking points.

Soon, the McCain campaign also weighed in with criticism of Mr. Obama’s remarks. “It shows an elitism and condescension toward hard-working Americans that is nothing short of breathtaking,” said Steve Schmidt, a senior adviser to Mr. McCain. “It is hard to imagine someone running for president who is more out of touch with average Americans.”

The truly breathtaking and hard to imagine thing being, of course, that he’s not referring to McCain in that last sentence.

You see what is happening here? McCain is echoing Hillary’s remarks because he wants to capture the disaffected Hillary voters when she loses. Polls have shown that more Hillary voters will vote for McCain than Obama voters should their candidate lose. It makes sense for McCain to parrot her attacks on Obama.

I wonder how much Right-wing money is going into Hillary’s campaign? Did she get a big check from Dick Scaife last month?
