Superman Foreign Policy

Ezra Klein makes the (convincing to me, at least) that American foreign policy should better be expressed as Superman versus Jack Bauer. Though to be honest the foreign policy we’ve got right now bears more resemblance to Lex Luthor.

dude, i IMMEDIATELY thought of you when i read that article. “oh, O.W. will DEFINITELY be all over this.”

as much as i prefer a dr. strange foreign policy, i can certainly see the appeal.

I’ll chalk that reaction of yours up to superior brand management on my part. Up, up, and away….

I don’t think of the Bush Administration as Superman so much as Allardyce T. Merriweather. He is the character in the book/movie Little Big Man who is a snake oil salesman. Each time Jack Crabb (the Little Big Man of the title) runs in to him, he has lost another body part but he has yet another scheme for success which of course involves another scam. Sound like anyone we know?

I think we have the foreign policy of Bizarro Superman.
