From his speech today in which he reaffirmed his commitment to at least 100 years in Iraq:
When I was five years old, a car pulled up in front of our house in New London, Connecticut, and a Navy officer rolled down the window, and shouted at my father that the Japanese had bombed Pearl Harbor.
He was 5. In 1941. Sweet Jesus.

Um…so was my dad. And I’m 30. So what? Don’t get me wrong, I dislike McCain a great deal, but this isn’t exactly damning. There are plenty of real things to be on his case over (his tempter, his flip-flopping, his stance on nearly every issue).

And Winston Churchill was 66.
Ok, do you think your dad should be president at his age? Cause I don’t.
Yeah, he is up there in years. But is it his age that makes him unsuitable, or his personality and policies?
I’d actually hate to think a potentially great president gets ruled out someday just because nobody over 65 need bother to apply.
Elvis was 6.
JFK was 24.
Need I point out, Mr. Hick, that all of those people you mention are dead now?
Duros,
Of course not. Elvis and JFK were facetious. But it is interesting to reflect on how old two iconic, forever young, figures would actually be if alive. I don’t know many politicians who compare to Churchill, who had a wealth of experience before he became PM, but didn’t become PM until he was 65.
Of course not. Elvis and JFK were facetious.
I got that.
Just sayin’.
Maybe someone should check to make sure that McCain was actually in CT at the time Pearl Harbor occured. Between Clinton thinking she was being shot at in Bosnia, and Obama crediting the Civil Rights marches in Selma, AL, two years before his birth, with his conception, there has been no shortage of breakdowns in space-time this election cycle.
Oh, McCain’s was forgetting he signed up for public financing of his campaign. Apparently he forgot he’s breaking his own law now.
Holy crap. I was negative 39 years old.
Yeah, and I was -7. I’m getting old enough to be really sick of this McCain-is-sooooooooooooooooo-old stuff. (And I’m fat too. So that’s two-fer-two of the groups you can apparently still shit on without any fear of getting called on it. Bwaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!)

He’s old, he’s shown signs of being out of it a few times during the campaign so far, and he’s battled cancer three times since 2000.
If it was just age, it wouldn’t be an issue. But age becomes an issue when health and mental fitness problems are present. That is the case here.

No, that’s his health and fitness being an issue, not his age. I do realize there is a correlation between more years and likelihood of having more health issues, and perhaps saying “age” serves as a useful shorthand for the several other things that might be individually listed. But I’m really tired of hearing McCain is unfit “because of his age.”
I think that this post pretty much covers the question of McCains age: “John McCain is so Old…”
“No, that’s his health and fitness being an issue, not his age.”
No, no, no. It’s both. A young person has a better shot at recovering from health problems than an old person. This isn’t prejudice, it’s medical fact. Same with mental fitness. Someone who misspeaks occasionally as a young man is one thing. Someone who starts doing that more and more as they get older is another.
Please he is too old. He need to be put out to pasture.
I’m sick of the Blitzerites editing video to hide Mccombover’s senility

Plus there is his questionable “family values” (Adultery),
his questionable ties to lobbyists (running his campaign), his questionable demeanor (temper, temper), his questionable acceptance of his wife’s….um…proclivities, his questionable grasp of economics, his questionable adherence to the public finance rules that HE WROTE.
etc., etc.
In my view, his age is pretty far down the list.
At least he doesn’t refer to himself as “John McCain”. Of course, not content for that simple improvement over the Bob Dole campaign, he has to say “my friends” all the time.
