Look, one of the biggest reasons to oppose Sen. Clinton is to make sure this guy can’t even drive near Pennsylvania Ave. let alone get inside.
New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson finally made up his mind and endorsed Sen. Barack Obama today, but a senior adviser to Sen. Hillary Clinton’s campaign — which likewise spent months courting the former Democratic presidential candidate’s nod — dismissed its significance.
“Look, I think that everyone has their endorsers,” said senior Clinton strategist Mark Penn, adding — with a little huff — “I think New Mexico is a state that, actually, we won.”
“The time that he could have been effective has long since passed,” he continued. “I don’t think it is a significant endorsement in this environment.”
Massachusetts? Not signifigant.
Georgia? Doesn’t count.
Illinois? Who cares?
Nevada, New Hampshire, Vermont? So what?
Gov. Richardson? “I don’t think it is a significant endorsement.”
Gaaah!
Governor Richardson, Clinton cabinet member. Clinton appointed Ambassador? That Governor Richardson? That isn’t significant?
Might wanna put some ointment on that burn, Mark.
If Obama really wanted to cement the thing, he should tap Richardson for VP. Hillary is more experienced? Richardson.
If so, he would be the first VP with the rawking hot Evil Spock facial hair!
Anyone see Richardson on “Countdown” today? He smack Mark Penn down like the little fly he is.
Richardson should have waited at least until after Pennsylvania.
I thought he was a reasonable, considered, decent, honorable man, but I guess I was mistaken:
He plunged this knife deep into the Clintons’ backs without any sense of guilt, deeply damaging people who he acknowledges he owes a deep and decades-long debt of gratitude, and joined his fortunes with the Obamas.
This dirty deed, done in his old friends’ worst hour of need, will come back to haunt him.
Or maybe he considers Obama the best person to be president to the United States. Did you ever think that that trumps loyalty? Seriously, you really need to get over your blind hate of Obama.
Wellstone, that’s gotta be the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen you write here. Is Richardson compelled to offer his endorsement to Clinton because of their relationship over the years? Of course not. If he truly believes that Obama is the best person for the job of President, then there’s absolutely no reason that he should sit on his hands on not stand up and say so.
We’ve spent the last 7 years with buddy politics in place in the Bush Administration. Let’s try to move past the cronyism, shall we?
