That Says It All, Doesn’t It?

Anti-Obama blogger Taylor Marsh, discussing Sen. Clinton’s wins in the Ohio and Texas primaries (she looks likely to lose the Texas caucus, however):

Delegates, schmelegates.

Except, if you’re not blinded by hatred of Sen. Obama, delegates are what matters here. The entire goal of a primary contest is to amass delegates in order to obtain the nomination. Delegates are the entire point. In the states where Sen. Clinton loses, those states don’t count. Caucuses are unfair… unless she wins. And the delegates? Well, she’s down by at least 100 so of course… they don’t matter.

It’s a strange disease that affects their minds.

I don’t think tonight’s losses by Obama mean anything. If you look where Hillary drew her votes, it’s in the rural areas of Texas and Ohio that traditionally vote for the GOP.

If I were a Republican (and I’m not), and I was forced to choose between Republican and Republican lite, I wouln’t go for the watered-down version in November.

A Hillary win now = a McCain win in November.

Glad I’m not the only one who can’t stop watching the Obama-hateathon at Taylor’s site. It’s hard not to watch. The bizarre thing is that even if Clinton did end up in the positive for delegates for the day (and that would be her first day yet with more delegates than Obama), she won’t end up with more in the month of March (not after Wyoming and Mississippi, although I’m sure they’ll say they don’t count).. The only contests left in which she will even compete are Pennsylvania, Indiana, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Puerto Rico. If she continues until the convention, she’ll end up down 150-200 in pledged delegates. There’s no chance she can overcome anything over ~60 w/superdelegates alone. So she’s going to run the party into the ground, but for what? Does she even have a plan to take this away from Obama?

Basically, the big winner for the night is McCain. And maybe Limbaugh and Hewitt. All Clinton has proved is that in her strongest states (the FIREWALL), she can edge out Obama as long as she has help from McCain…

I gotta go with a post by cscs on TPM Cafe, “Obama and Clinton Supporters Must Drop Out of the Race“.

Both of you are well past tiresome on this.

Also gotta agree with Mithras’s assessment that sexism is a factor in a lot of this.

I have a friend who cannot talk about Clinton without using the term, “That Bitch”, and it goes over just fine with the Obama crowd when he says it.

As to the “3am ad”, except for the amusement of Althouse flipping out, it’s really pretty mild.

Also see the report on TPM from the Ohio reader, who said that it was the entire “Goolsbee saying that the NAFTA talk was just talk” that drove people to vote for Hillary.

If Obama cannot deal with Hillary, McCain will eat him up alive.

Listen, I post about Clinton and Obama frequently, and Goolsbee is a favorite whipping boy of mine, but I also post about the economic meltdown, the corruption of Bush and His Evil Minions™, aviation and technology news, etc.

All you and Taylor Marsh are doing are wrestling in the mud, and you are both getting dirty.

If you want someone to wrestle with Marsh, how about Jessica Alba?

Plus it was pretty much a carbon copy of Mondale’s ad. No more charges of plagiarism, ‘kay?

I absolutely agree that the plagiarism stuff is bullshit.

OTOH, Obama deliberately going “Harry and Louise” was worse, and on any abstract merits.

It’s a campaign, people will get nasty.

What’s more, both candidates are connected to the Chicago area, so they won’t be doing it with their pinkies sticking out.

I haven’t harped on campaign tactics, instead, I’ve harped on things like Goolsbee disavowing the NAFTA talk, Hillary employing a man who makes money Union Busting (Penn), the Donnie McClurkin dogwhistle, the architect of the subprime debacle (Pritzger) being the campaign fanance chair, etc.

These are differences in policies. The people wringing their hands over whether the lettering on pajamas, or how a video still looks, are busy gazing at their own navels and pig-fighting.

Truth be told, I’m surprised at the legs that the Goolsbee story has.

    Bow to me!

    Quaker in a Basement said:
I’ll go you one better than that.

    I predict:
    Clinton in the Texas voting.
Obama in the Texas caucuses and in total delegates.
A solid week of cable yakkers puzzling over what it all means.

Yeah, but you’re talking about Ann Althouse here, so…

Oh crap! I said her name out loud. Everybody hide!

Don’t worry Duros, you can say it once. I heard that if you say it three times, she materializes directly behind you and decapitates you with a half drunk 5 liter box of white zinfindel. I would still prefer this to watching 30 seconds of her discussing the latest injustice on American Idol.
