Now they’re saying that Sen. Obama said Republicans and Reagan had better ideas over the last decade than Democrats did. He said no such thing. You know, campaigns that think they can win on their positions don’t usually engage in this sort of thing.

Personal peeve: “I have to say, you know, my leading opponent the other day said that he thought the Republicans had better ideas than Democrats the last ten to fifteen years.”
Why don’t politicians refer to each other by name? Seriously, do they really think we don’t know his name, or that having her actually say it is going to benefit him somehow?
To me it smacks of typical weaseling on words (No matter how clear obvious the comment, use something unspecific so you can always claim later you weren’t saying what you said. (”Who said I was talking about Obama? I didn’t say I was referring to Obama.”) and typical insulting the intelligence of the voters (Not that voters smarts aren’t often questionable, but do they really think merely mentioning the opponent’s name is going stampede people to the opponent’s side?).
Seriously, where did this habit come from?
It demonstrates the things I don’t like about Obama and Clinton. Obama needs to step away from the Republican framing. Party of ideas. Social Security. I think you’ve said this before Oliver, the Republicans have no intention of coming to the table. Stop trying to bring them there, Obama
Clinton needs to stop being the ruthless politician. She needs to stop being a rabid attack dog and try to outline her differneces with Obama in a less frothy-mouthed way
In case you forgot MP, Bill Clinton caved in to the republicans on NAFTA and Welfare Reform just for starters. Even though I disagreed with Reagan, he did use the power of the presidency to persuade the American people to his ideas in spite of a democratic congress and did change the trajectory in Obamas words of American politics. He said nothing whether it was good or n not. That’s was Bill Clinton’s lie while he was responsible mostly for the democrats getting kicked out of congress just two years into his presidency mostly because of scandals and ineffectiveness as a President during those first two years. And we won’t even begin to talk about Hilliary’s biggest mess, the healthcare bill, which was supposed to be their signature issue going in the campaign.
Obama is not skilled at dealing with the Clinton machine. He makes a truthful statement and it gets twisted into the Clintons’ lies. The things Bill, Hilliary and the Clinton campaign have done have totally disgusted me with the democratic party. I’m not even sure I would vote for Obama to start with but Bill can forget about his “third term” in the whitehouse as far as I’m concerned.
