I’ll Never Understand…

Why teams think that you shouldn’t cover Randy Moss. I’m watching the NY Giants here just give up a touchdown to the Patriots (giving them them the lead 31-28) that wouldn’t have been wrapped up better if it were under a Christmas tree. When the Skins got walloped by them, they let Moss go, and the Giants seem to not get that it’s worth it to cover that guy. Try it, it works.

You know, you’re right. It’s like how teams never covered Michael Jordan or Wayne Gretzky.

Okay, Moss isn’t at that level, but it’s close. Teams think they should cover Moss, but they can’t, especially if they think that Wexler and Stallworth should be covered as well.

Doesn’t help that the play previous, his cover-man was injured.

Moss isn’t even remotely close to Jordan/Gretzky or Rice for that matter. He’s tall, that’s what he is. Nothing more.

“Moss isn’t even remotely close to Jordan/Gretzky or Rice”…which is why I said “okay, he isn’t at that level”. Moss if a Hall of Famer, and the best receiver on the field. He’s not just tall, he’s fast. He also knows just how much he’s allowed to push off without getting caught, and one thread amongst all great players is their knowledge and use of the rules.

But you can continue your Patriot-hater fantasies if it makes you feel better, Oliver. I still like your blog, and imagine your output will increase even more once the Redskins are eliminated from continuing their season.

Heh, I’m sorry I’m not impressed by Moss’ “jump ball” play at WR. I think a WR is distinguished more by his ability to make clutch catches and smart on-field moves (like Jerry Rice, for instance).
