I was almost halfway into last week’s episode of NBC’s “Bionic Woman” (Episode 3) and I simply stopped watching. I paused the TV for a moment using Comcast’s DVR that sucks compared to Tivo’s interface, and pondered why I was watching the show. Not a single one of the characters interested me. The lead actress - Michelle Ryan - is simply one of the least appealing female leads I’ve ever seen in all of prime time - I don’t think a lead has to be a babelicious airhead to keep you watching, but we also don’t watch TV to see the same boring people you see in everyday life either. And the plot? We’ve seen this plot already. Numerous times. Over and over again. Evil government agencies with shadowy not-quite good but not quite bad counteragencies slugging it out below the surface. Not only have we seen this scenario but it has been done better about a million times before. The show was paint by the numbers TV in the worst way, and I refuse to watch that anymore.
Bionic Woman, you are dead to me.

The plot of the one episode I watched turned on one of the “good guys” torturing one of the bad guys to get the information needed to save the day.
That was it for me.
Kinda, sorta like Dark Angel. I’m not a big fan of the gov’t but even I think most of the people working in it don’t routinely violate the law and kill people.
But Dark Angel had something Bionic Woman doesn’t. Not that I’m biased or nothing :).
What is it with tv this season? I watched the first 15 minutes of “Chuck” and “Journeyman” and said this is boring and turned them off. One was just stupid, and the other was jumping around in time past and present, and then flashbacks to happier times: a chopped up mess. Gack!

I paused the TV for a moment … and pondered why I was watching the show.
Subversive.
Seriously, be careful. You do that once and it can become a habit. Before you know it, you’re not watching TV at all.

See, it’s just missing Dean Stockwell. Then we’d have a hit on our hands!
Yeah, just can’t follow any of them. Life is pretty good, though. Lotta dark undercurrents etc.
I was hoping Michelle Ryan would catch on. She can play intelligent, honest.
“But Dark Angel had something Bionic Woman doesn’t. Not that I’m biased or nothing :).”
Dark Angel as about a dystopian future and it had the atmosphere to back it up.
