Conservative Disconnect From The Real World, As Demonstrated By Fox News Anchor Jon Scott

Fox News anchor Jon Scott just can’t figure out two things:

a) Why the military is in desperate need of recruits right now
b) Why the military has had to lower their standards to get said recruits

The idea that we’re at war in two countries and that at least one of those wars is going badly simply doesn’t enter his mind. He and his masters at Fox News just couldn’t possibly comprehend the answer to this issue.

FOX NEWS: Why do you suppose the military is having problems recruiting?

GUEST: We’re fighting two unpopular wars.

FOX NEWS: There must be SOME reason, though, why recruiting is so low.

GUEST: I just told you, two unpopular wars and a policy that keeps soldiers away from home for fifteen month tours.

FOX NEWS: But what could possibly be the explanation for why they’ve had to lower standards just to meet recruiting goals?

GUEST: *groan* I TOLD you why. No one wants to sign up to fight in a war they don’t believe in for unprecedented tour durations.

FOX NEWS: Well, I guess the reasons for the recruiting problem will just have to remain a mystery. Thanks, guest.
