Fake emails claiming to offer nude photographs of Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Natalie Portman, Milla Jovovich and pixelated videogame babe Lara Croft are behind 80 per cent of computer viruses last month, according to experts.
For, though claiming to contain shocking pictures of female celebrities, the emails, once opened, install a malicious rootkit.
“These emails are masquerading as pornographic content, tempting the unwary into opening a file on their Windows computer which will install a rootkit and download further malicious code from the internet,” said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant for Sophos.
Jolie, Kidman, etc. I kinda get - but are people really so desperate for cheesecake shots of the not real Lara Croft? Sheesh.

are people really so desperate for cheesecake shots of the not real Lara Croft?
well, probably no more so than some people are desperate for a not real “Morph of Kristin Kreuk and Jessica Alba”. It’s fantasy for $$*(#@’s sake! If it turns you on, you can fantasize about pretty nearly anything… shapely eggplants, abelian sets, quasars (now you talk about’cher “big bang! :-), anything!
Well, the answer to this problem is obvious. All celebrities that are used as bait in these emails should immediately pose for, and distribute widely, a large number of naked pictures.
After all, if people can get these pictures easily then they won’t be tempted to click on these questionable emails.
C’mon Angelina, C’mon Nicole, C’mon Natalie, C’mon Milla. Do it for the good of humanity!
Mr. Willis is just mad because the one that offered pics of Hayden Panettiere was also fake.
I keep clicking but the pictures won’t come up. But on a related note, my credit card number just got sent to Bombay!
This is rank anti-artificial bigotry, Oliver. The email-sending virus community has many fine, productive netizens who can apparently pass the Turing test well enough for corporate work.
And Chris: that’s part of why I love Angelina Jolie.
