It is a continuing blight on America and black Americans particularly that this absolute stain has Thurgood Marshall’s seat on our highest court.

I would be curious as to why you hold such strong views regarding Thomas. Mind you, I am not surprised that you might, but would be curious as to your specific reasons. Is it his decisions or concurrences, his personal character, the distance between himself as Justice Marshall ideologically?

When the Thomas hearings came out, I was in my first year of law school, October, and we were at my aunt’s house, watching the hearings trying to think of something else to think about. Ironically, the men believed Anita Hill and the women thought she was lying.

I always thought Hill was irrelevant, Bruce. In fact, she helped Thomas. The real question is whether or not this guy was qualified to sit on the Supreme Court, and the answer was clearly, “No.”

Since when have right-wingers ever let a little reality get in the way of their “beliefs”?

Thomas also benefited from the affirmative action programs he now opposes for everyone who isn’t him.

And finally, he is also the most “activist” justice on the SCOTUS, voting to overturn more laws than any other justice. And yet he is defended by conservatives who rail against judicial activism.

Is anything a conservative says ever NOT complete and utter bullpucky?

If you payed any attention to what Anita Hill said, then you would KNOW she was telling the truth.

Typical of the right to make the leap from black/left leaning to automatic race card player.

I can’t think of one time the race card was ever played by our host. And I’ve been coming here a long time.

Thomas might have a hope of being a middling jurist (NOT worthy of the Supremes, mind you, just middling) if he could crawl out of Antonin Scalia’s butt crack for more than a minute at a time.

I’ve always hated when we Afro-Americans question each other’s “blackness”. It’s the most destructive (and common) way we injure each other….

..except when it comes to Clarence Thomas. There is no human being on the face of this earth that deserves the title of “Uncle Tom” more than this man. It’s not that he’s not “black enough”, it’s that he actively works AGAINST the interests of his own people.

I truly believe that he HATES the fact that he was born black. This man is scum, and yes I’m throwing stones like a muthafucka…

“‘my worst fears had come to pass not in Georgia, but in Washington, D.C., where I was being pursued not by bigots in white robes but by left-wing zealots draped in flowing sanctimony.’”

That’s right. Liberals are the modern KKK. Nope, no victimhood there.
