Did you see the report on CNN about this? Complete crap. The reporter bent over backwards to make it seem like O’Reilly wasn’t racist.
Being amazed that a stereotype doesn’t hold true is a sure sign of racism.
CS, everybody who isn’t a left wing loon like yourself is a racist. You’re as predictable as the sun rising in the east.
Being amazed that a stereotype doesn’t hold true is a sure sign of racism.
Congratulations. You’ve just surpassed a whole host of stupid things I’ve read to zoom right to the top.
Wow.
Seriously, Jay?
Look, it’s one thing to have prejudices, as O’Reilly clearly did. He assumed that a restaurant run by and primarily serving blacks would be wholly different–and not as well-behaved–from a similar restaurant with white owners and clientele. He was surprised when those assumptions turned out to be false.
He was so surprised that he had to talk about it at length on his radio show. Amazing! Can you believe! Black folks may be more like white folks than I ever imagined!
But that just makes him prejudiced. What makes him racist is that he doesn’t understand how making such comments could be considered offensive to the same people he was so surprised by.
On the one hand, I give Bill-O a golf clap for making this attempt to bridge the racial divide. On the other, it’s obvious that he lacks anything resembling a clue.
Jay, why is the sentence from C.S. Strowbridge stupid? It’s sounds like common sense to me.
Bill O’reilly remarks were shocking and offensive.
I heard the racist tyrade that also included the comment… “they are starting to think for themselves more and more”
African-Americans are just starting to think for themselves??? Really??
So I guess Marcus Garvey, Fredrick Douglas, George Washing Carver, Harriet Tubman, Marin L. King, Malcom X, and countless others…. didn’t come from or represent a race of thinkers???
and he has the nerve to be amazed we can run a restaurant and patron a restaurant without cursing and acting ignorant…
I am amazed at his ignorance of culture.
I am amazed at how he, a supposed, educated individual would make such incorrect and broad negative and entirely incorrect assumptions about an entire race.
We have a long way to go in this country.
Bill O’reilly should be fired.
Let’s not mischaracterize his remarks. It wasn’t a “tirade,” which is part of why it’s worse. If it were a “tirade,” you could easily see his prejudices as emotional and irrational.
He was speaking calmly about this. It’s worse, because it’s so casual to him–he makes these statements with as much ease as others would ask somebody to pass the salt.
Or, “M-Fer, I want more salt.”
This is the same guy who quipped about a singing group of kids from an inner city kids that were delayed in performing that he hoped they weren’t out in the parking lot stealing hub caps.
On the other hand, it was Harlem this time. He was probably hoping he’d see Jack Spade, John Slade, Kung Fu Joe, Fly Guy, Hammer, Slammer, Mr. Big
WIllie and Leonard and the rest of the cast of I’m Gonna Git You Sucka, fishbowl pimp shoes and all.
Jay: “CS, everybody who isn’t a left wing loon like yourself is a racist. You’re as predictable as the sun rising in the east.”
Did I say this? Did I even imply this? No.
So I think someone doth protest too much.
On the other hand, if someone says something that’s racist, they probably are.
Me: “Being amazed that a stereotype doesn’t hold true is a sure sign of racism.”
Jay: “Congratulations. You’ve just surpassed a whole host of stupid things I’ve read to zoom right to the top.
Wow.”
If it is so stupid, you can explain why. Go ahead, I’m waiting.
Imagine if someone on the left said, “I went to a NASCAR event and I didn’t see a single person who was obviously inbred, and no one tried to make me squeal like a pig!”
People on the right would find that offensive. Hell, you were offended by something I didn’t say, so you are clearly a hypocrite as well.
If so, I’d have hoped they’d ask him if he’d prefer to take the window or the stairs.
I’m still trying to figure out what M-fer means. I do hope this turns out to be his Don Imus moment, but I kinda doubt it, given his employers.
I would like to point out that Jay’s a coward. Comes here, insults me, and then runs when people ask him to explain himself.
Useless individual.
