So I’m just kind of aware that this High School Musical thing exists in the way that I know the galaxy exists but I’ve never been there myself. 
I don’t watch that kind of stuff (too busy watching wrestling and PBS). But i know it’s a multi-million dollar Disney franchise whose sequel broke all kinds of records. For a young actor or actress that’s got to be a dream job. You’re part of the Disney machine, have insane exposure, and you’ve got the world on a platter. But if you’re Vanessa Hudgens, one of the kid stars of this, you do something so stupid it could only be perpetrated by a young person.
Brainy Gabriella of “High School Musical” would no doubt blush at the idea that nude pictures of young actress Vanessa Hudgens were circulating on the Internet.
The problem for the Walt Disney Co. is that Hudgens plays Gabriella.
The 18-year-old star of Disney Channel’s wildly successful “High School Musical” franchise apologized on Friday. The photos show a coquettishly smiling Hudgens posing naked in a bedroom with a red curtain behind her.
“I want to apologize to my fans, whose support and trust means the world to me,” Hudgens said in a statement. “I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos. I am thankful for the support of my family and friends.”
Hudgens’ publicist, Jill Fritzo, wouldn’t say anything about who took the pictures and how they slipped out onto the Internet.
Once you take a picture in the year 2007, you should always assume it can and will get onto the internet (this picture was the nail in the coffin of my presidential aspirations). And why would you do such a thing? These kids today have no brains. They don’t think. They simply cannot add up two and two in their heads and realize that Disney won’t think twice to throw them out in the trash for being a skank. For every one of them that makes it, there’s 3,000 equally talented kids ready to fill their spot. But no, this dumb-dumb takes nude pictures and then is shocked and appalled when they get out into the internet.
Really.
If someone had told me back in 1991 that Generation X would have turned out to be the smart ones, I would have never believed you.

Ah, please. Yes, it was a stupid thing to do because she is a celebrity. However, it’s not a ’skankish’ thing to do as you said in your post. It was a picture sent by one adult to another adult who were in a sexual relationship. Oh noes!
Also, it’s not a generational thing. It’s a technological thing. The number of young girls showing their boobs or other parts off to their boyfriends or at spring break probably isn’t much larger than it was twenty years ago.
Now though, it’s a lot easier for said boyfriend to forward pictures/video files to all of his buddies then it was twenty years ago and now through the magic of the Internets, a lot easier for everyone to see it.
Um, did you call the girl a “skank”, Oliver? Easy there, man. I’m with CS on this. She’s a legal adult. She can do what she wants with her body. Taking the picture wasn’t the dumb thing. Letting it get out of her control was if she didn’t want it on the internet.
Of course, if she had on a thong and 1/4 of a football jersey you would have posted the pic in two seconds flat beneath some drooling headline.
I don’t think that Oliver called her a skank. Oliver was describing Disney’s thoughts and behaviors.
Disney of course, has a long history of getting rid of stars that shed their pure as snow image and hurt sales of Disney products. (nb. Tommy Kirk, Willby of Shaggy Doug.)
