   Dude, the “only” difference is that Vitter is in a state with a Democratic governor. Hewitt wants to replace Craig so there’s a better chance in the 2008 election, whereas if Vitter resigns, the seat goes Democrat.

   Also, Craig’s state has a Republican governor, which means the appointment of a Republican replacement senator.

   No so, Louisiana.
