The Latest Dispatch From The Dept. Of Truth

That report from Iraq, supposedly from alleged straight shooter David Petraeus, is going to be yet another White House propaganda piece.

Despite Bush’s repeated statements that the report will reflect evaluations by Petraeus and Ryan Crocker, the U.S. ambassador to Iraq, administration officials said it would actually be written by the White House, with inputs from officials throughout the government.

More of the same.

Would someone please give Gen. Petraeus a phone number where Mr. Powell can reach him? Perhaps he can explain to the general how this process works.

G*d D%mn President trying to run his own administration. Who does he think he is?!?

The article does say that Patraeus will face the Congressional firing squad sometime next month. I doubt seriously that Democratics on the Committee will fail to ask about any differences between Patraeus’s recommendations and the WH-published report.

Why would Dubya do that? I thought that’s why he created the office of War Czar.

“G*d D%mn President trying to run his own administration. Who does he think he is?!?”

Except he said when it comes to Iraq, he’ll listen to his generals. Now he is writing the report the generals were supposed to write. How is that listening to them?

Wlll be the first time ever that Bush did someone else’s homework rather than the other way around.

The report was likely written prior to the surge.

Did anyone really think that it would say anything other than the troops are needed to stay well into, whenever?

The plan was to get into Iraq, never to get out. An occupation dependency paradigm was purposely created to secure a permanent beach head in the Middle East.

Other than Kucinich all of the other Dem candidates are down with the plan. It sucks to be an Iraqi!

Of course the surge is working. How can we tell? There are still some people in Iraq who haven’t died. Some buildings that haven’t been blown up. There are places where, at certain times of day, you can go for a walk -without body armor- and you won’t necessarily be shot.

Everybody except you loonie lefty extremists knew that this would be the case before the surge started, so why on earth shoudln’t the report have been written already?

“G*d D%mn President trying to run his own administration. Who does he think he is?!?”

I suggest someone save this comment so that whenever the wingnuts start bitching about everything President Hillary does (the complaining to commence roughly twelve nano-seconds after the election) - we can happily remind them of how trusting and loving they once were to a big authoritarian executive.

Of course, I guess that would only work if they felt anything resembling shame or had anything resembling a principle.

    Another White House white paper?

Can anyone this side of Alberto G. think there is any credible thing that the White House could put out on Iraq other then a 50 year occupation?

    Surge my dimpled butt.

Come on now everyone–Bush has seen that the serge is working though his own eyes (from watching all those old war movies) so how dare you question his judgement!

    WHY DO YOU HATE AMERICA?!?!?

Farris, we only wish Congress acted more like a “firing squad” and less like a back door rubber stamp so Bush can keep us in hell.
