A: So weak that not even close to longshot candidate Dennis Kucinich only loses by 14% and 9% to Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson, the Republican frontrunners.
Dennis Kucinich, who has about as much a chance at being the Democratic nominee as I do at being Jessica Alba’s rebound boyfriend (although as Lloyd says in Dumb and Dumber, there’s always a chance), barely loses to two of the top Republican candidates.
Wow. (via CS in the forums)
[As a side note, I think Rep. Kucinich did a good job handling famously reprehensible warmongering murderous asshole Donald Rumsfeld in the hearings on Wednesday]

Don’t sell yourself short! (ba-da-bing)
Your chances of an Alba rebound are much higher (ba-da-bing) than a Kucinich Democratic nomination.
How is a 9% and 14% spread “barely” losing?
The same article said Ron Paul “barely” lost to some top tier Democrats by “only” 15%.
“How is a 9% and 14% spread ‘barely’ losing?”
It’s Kucinich! I wouldn’t expect half of the respondents to know his name.
“The same article said Ron Paul ‘barely’ lost to some top tier Democrats by “only” 15%.”
15% to Clinton, 20% to Obama. Or did you not read the link? Average Lead over Kucinich: 11.5%
Average Lead over Paul: 17.5%
17.5% is much bigger than 11.5%.
11.5% is also inline with the lead Edwards has over Thompson while 17.5% isn’t that much more than Edwards lead over McCain.
(Interesting note, Ron Paul only get 55% support from Republicans when up against Obama and only 60% when against Clinton. In this match-up, the Democratic Party would just have to show Ron Paul’s racist statements from the past to sink his chances.)
I though you were the reason that Jessica Alba broke up with her boyfriend?
I think Dennis Kucinich should be an inspiration to us all that if he can land such an attractive wife, then surely we all have a chance at landing someone as attractive as Jessica Alba.
DO NOT make the mistake of misunderestimating thepower of the GOP’s millions and message.
They will field a very competitive campaign, based on character ssassination, denigration, media manipulation, bullyboy tactics, victim mongering, tax greed, whatever works; and we take them lightly at our own risk.
They will always have people like Dugger, Jay, and Mike to support them, no matter what.
And we will never reach them.
For Democrats, this Election is really the beginning of the road back to the America we believe in, not a destination.
The democratic electorate makes me sick! Here we have the most perfect candidate in Dennis and they’d sell him out and vote for a republican instead?? Edwards, Obama, and Clinton all enjoy head to head leads over the republicans. That means 11.5% and the margin of their lead would turn their back on kucinich. Dennis smokes those three corporatist candidates every which way possible!
No one but Dennis 2008!

Nonsense. I’ve said it before and I will say it again: If Bill Richardson would run the country the way he Governs New Mexico, I could vote for him. I’d move to Mexico before voting for Hillary Clinton or John Edwards and I don’t think Obama is ready for prime time.
You’re the one who’s going to vote Democrat no matter who it is, so don’t fit me into a neat little box.
“I don’t think Obama is ready for prime time.”
Republicans who voted the drunken fratboy into office probably aren’t the best authorities on who is “ready for prime time.” Obama has shown himself to be smart, articulate, thoughtful, and cogent - everything that Bush is NOT.
He’s also an “outsider” by the usual standards, which is used to be a good thing among Republicans.
Republicans who voted the drunken fratboy into office probably aren’t the best authorities on who is “ready for prime time.”
I never claimed to be an authority. That’s my opinion. You’re perfectly free to disagree.
Obama has shown himself to be smart, articulate, thoughtful, and cogent
Yeah and I personally a lot of people with those qualities. I’m not about to elect them President however.
And Obama is a member of the United States Senator. That hardly makes him an ‘outsider’ unless you’re referring to the fact that he just hasn’t been in office long.
Never mind that, the important thing is, when are you going to move to Iraq?
Since you support an inarticulate klutz who doesn’t know English grammar despite 16 years of education, that is obvious. Your vote is for the incompetent, the corrupt, and feckless, and inarticulate, and the strutting rooster who crows about his failures while claiming imperial power for himself.
“That’s my opinion.”
I just wanted to point out that it’s the opinion of someone who voted for a drunken fratboy (and the man who will likely go down in history as one of the worst president of all time) for president.
“And Obama is a member of the United States Senator [sic]. That hardly makes him an ‘outsider’ unless you’re referring to the fact that he just hasn’t been in office long.”
I said “by the usual standards.” Bush was touted as an outsider because he was from Texas DESPITE the fact that he has grown up in politics and his father was a president.
By THOSE standards, he is an outsider - but that doesn’t mean inexperienced. He has been in the US Congress for one term. Before that, however, he served in elected office in state government for seven years.
He also has a diverse education, was a civil rights lawyer, and volunteered in various civics organizations.
While there is an age requirement in the Constitution (you remember that document I hope), there is no “ready for prime time” requirement. No requirements for previous office or prior elected position. You can some to the presidency as a doctor or lawyer with little to no political experience, as Lincoln did, or Washington.
“Your vote is for the incompetent, the corrupt, and feckless, and inarticulate, and the strutting rooster who crows about his failures while claiming imperial power for himself.”
It is an overall human weakness, seemingly far more prevalent in right-wingers, that making consistently horrendous errors in judgment and predictions so completely divorced from reality does not chasten one to one’s own decision-making process. As in, “You know, I’ve been wrong about EVERYTHING for the past seven years, like the weapons of mass destruction and that we’d be greeted as liberators or that the oil will pay for the reconstruction or that we can install democracy at the point of a gun; MAYBE, JUST MAYBE I should give the predictions a rest and let those who’ve been right all along have a shot at fixing this shithole mess I’ve supported and helped create by voting for a president with barely a Forrest Gump IQ.”
That never occurs to them. Ever.
Never mind that, the important thing is, when are you going to move to Iraq?
What kind of stupid question is that?
Since you support an inarticulate klutz who doesn’t know English grammar despite 16 years of education, that is obvious.
Do liberals know how to debate an issue with resorting a variety of logical fallacies? What does your ad hominem about President Bush have to do with Barack Obama? Stick to the issue. It’s not about President Bush.
I just wanted to point out that it’s the opinion of someone who voted for a drunken fratboy (and the man who will likely go down in history as one of the worst president of all time) for president.
Again. You and Mike must have taken the same class.
I said “by the usual standards.” Bush was touted as an outsider because he was from Texas DESPITE the fact that he has grown up in politics and his father was a president.
When was Bush touted as an outsider?
By THOSE standards, he is an outsider - but that doesn’t mean inexperienced. He has been in the US Congress for one term. Before that, however, he served in elected office in state government for seven years.

Ok great. When he goes to apply for a job somewhere, you can finish his resume for his Monster.com submission. This doesn’t really mean all that much.
While there is an age requirement in the Constitution (you remember that document I hope), there is no “ready for prime time” requirement.
Hooray for you. Nobody claimed it was a requirement.
When was Bush touted as an outsider?
George Bush to this day touts himself as an outsider.
And Jay, I don’t know why you’re pretending that in your eyes there’s anyone with a (D) you would consider qualified for the job.
And Jay, I don’t know why you’re pretending that in your eyes there’s anyone with a (D) you would consider qualified for the job.
Oliver, I’m not pretending. Here is something I wrote way back in March about Bill Richardson:
I’ve talked about this before, but I will mention it yet again. Bill Richardson is a Democrat I would vote for. I think him, combined with a GOP Congress (divided government is a good thing) would be great for the country. In fact, out of all the candidates, he’s the one thus far I like the most. He has the credentials, the executive experience, the foreign policy experience and he’s strong on the 2nd amendment (as Ricky pointed out previously he was endorsed by the NRA over his Republican opponent), strong on immigration reform and he’s a tax cutter! He, not John Edwards or Barack Obama, is the kind of candidate that will bring a lot of crossover votes.
Of course I also pointed out that such stances by Richardson might not win him many fans amongst the kook left, but oh well.
You see, unlike you and just about every Democrat that posts comments on this blog, I have an open mind about these things. Bill Richardson is easily the most qualified candidate on the Democratic side. Yet for some reason, I see the establishment going with Hillary Clinton. And she’s not a candidate that will win a general election.
Stop attacking Jay’s “I’m an Independent because I would vote for a democratic third tier candidate if the stars aligned and he suddenly became the nominee, unless the Republicans actually field a candidate, because the Republican candidate would be more qualified because the (R) after the name makes me weak in the knees” cred.
Note how you say: ” Bill Richardson is easily the most qualified candidate on the Democratic side”. What Democratic side? Why wouldn’t you just say the most qualified candidate PERIOD if he’s so great. I guess his resume doesn’t stack up to Thompson’s (R) or Guilliani’s (R).
I’m an Independent
I never claimed to be an Independent. Another one that read the “How To Use Logical Fallacies In A Discussion” guidebook.
a democratic third tier candidate
That third tier candidate raised more money recently than John Edwards. You’re allowing yourself to be convinced by the media that he’s a third tier because he doesn’t get the press coverage Edwards gets. But that’s typical.
What Democratic side? Why wouldn’t you just say the most qualified candidate PERIOD if he’s so great.
Uhh. Perhaps it’s because I am comparing him to the other Democrats? Ever think of that?
Yes, Jay, Richardson is certainly the buzz at everybody’s water cooler. Just to be clear, I would vote for him over the others. But I don’t kid myself, he ain’t winning so far.
As for the last, you had a post about how great Richardson was, about his conservative appeal, etc, then you suddenly narrowed the field and compared him only to democratic candidates, probably so you could whine about Hillary Clinton.
Would he get your vote over the Republican field of candidates? The answer to that is: no, you will vote Republican: “I would have voted for Richardson, but I couldn’t give the Democrats all branches of the government (which I didn’t care about in 2004), but, at least, I had an open mind.” Oh, and he has pledged to take the US out of Iraq in 6 months. Looks like Romney for Jay.
“That third tier candidate raised more money recently than John Edwards.”
So $23,059,412 is less than $13,262,545. Interesting. Then again, you thought 17.5% was the same margin as 11.5%, so we know math is not your strong suit.
Strong suit? Jay plays Bridge with Tiddly Winks.
As for the last, you had a post about how great Richardson was, about his conservative appeal, etc, then you suddenly narrowed the field and compared him only to democratic candidates, probably so you could whine about Hillary Clinton.
Good God, you are still as dumb as ever. I was comparing him to Democrats because I was talking about Democrats. Why is that so hard for you to figure out or comprehend?
Wait. It’s because you’re dumb.
Would he get your vote over the Republican field of candidates? The answer to that is: no, you will vote Republican:
You have absolutely no idea how I am going to vote. Remember, you’re the drone, not me.
So $23,059,412 is less than $13,262,545. Interesting. Then again, you thought 17.5% was the same margin as 11.5%,
I made a mistake. Richardson is raising more now than Edwards and Kerry were raising back in 03.
As for the percentages, you’re a fucking idiot. I never even came close to saying 11.5% was the same as 17.5%. You started pulling averages out of your stupid as as if the average percentage two different candidates has over another actually means something.
Please. Run off with Midderpidge where you and the rest of the mental midgets can have some fun and leave the real discussion to people with brains larger than a pea.
Cheers.
Take a course in English composition Jay.
How does Richardson stack up against your Republican candidates?
Or maybe you should reduce your post down to the essentials: Hey guys, if you are going to vote Democratic, vote for Richardson, he’s super-qualified and most important of all, he’s not Hillary.
I have an idea of how you’ll vote: Archangel Michael for president. Anti-abortion, no queer marriage, Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin on the short list for VP, end of teaching monkey-business evolution, all school text books from the American compass book club, pro-Death penalty, pro-Gun, pro-business… 36 point platform.
“7.) During My Campaign I will work to convince Archangel/President Gabuthelon George W. Bush to have the Congress pass the National Economic Stabilization And Recovery Act on the Internet atNESARA so he can sign it into law, with the exception of its tax provision since the Heavenly Money will do away with taxation and its need completely. If the President and Congress do not accomplish this deed, then I will take it up during my time in office and see it through.”
And who knew George Bush was actually Archangel Gabuthelon? End of days and all.
