I am perfectly fine with this being taught in a public school, but I also think that parents should be asked for permission just in case they don’t want the school to tell their children something that the parents should already have taught them.

Bullshit. Again, I was taught the basics of sex in my kindergarten class, and it was completely appropriate. There is simply nothing wrong with it. My fiancee grew up on a farm, seeing live births from an early age. Sex, birth, and death are concepts even kindergarteners are curious about, and we should have answers for them when they ask that are science-based, not stork-based. I agree with you about protecting young children by educating them. However, at the kindergarten age, information should be provided to parents, so the they can teach their young children at home.

The issue that I’m addressing is a distortion that Willis is trying to create. When Romney checked the box indicating he supports science based sex education it is for the current grades of 6-12. There is no conflict with Romeny’s statement. His issue is - Kindergarten is NOT the place for “science based sex education”.

The other key words are “science based sex education”. This is very different then teaching safety.

Obama has recently clarified his statement to mean teaching kindergartners safety and protection.

Of course, what is age appropriate for kindergarteners won’t be the same as for older kids, but that doesn’t mean the should be ‘protected’ for sex education.

“Sex-ed” that is age appropriate doesn’t mean teaching 5 years old about intercourse of condoms morons. Though teaching children about what is inappropriate touching is helpful. 5 year olds also need to be protected moron.
