I know I’m supposed to be high minded and not like Michael Bay’s movies, but God help me I enjoy the hell out of them (except for Pearl Harbor). The action is over the top, there are ten explosions per minute, and almost always the best solution to resolve the plot is military hardware. But then, Transformers is a movie about giant robots based on a cartoon designed to sell toys in the 1980s. This isn’t high art, but its a hell of a theme park ride. Shia Labeouf is unexpectedly entertaining in his lead role, and Megan Fox vaults right up into the hottie top ten thanks to this movie.

I actually believed Sam’s family dynamic (I liked his parents) and was surprised when upper-middle-class Sam stopped by at Mikaela’s house: she was like in a poor neighborhood, her house looked like a renovated trailer.
I thought high school cared more about family wealth than the kids appeared to.
Or was Mikaela so hot that NOBODY cared that her dad was in the pokey?

Megan Fox is now in my top 5. That douche from 90210 (not that douche the other one, no not THAT one, right, the guy with the ears) was smart to lock her down at 19.

My husband, the major film snob refuses to see Transformers because it was directed by Michael Bay. However, EVERYONE says its pretty fun.

yeah, it’s just about the worst movie I’ve ever seen. I like summer movies, dumb movies, and without getting into my specifics, know that all of my childhood heroes were giant robots. Michael Bay could have easily titled his film “transformers are LAME cars are RAD”. where’s my shovel.
