Actually, you butchered hte quote. It does not say Coulter is a leader,and in the preceding sentence, the one directly tied to Coulter, merely references ‘conservatives’. So other than getting it wrong, good job!

And, again, Coulter, like Mike Moore, Dan Rather, and Al Franken on your side, can be fun at times.

I ask again, please demonstrate this famous Coulter Wit that I keep hearing about. To hear her speak she just seems petty and hateful. I’m as willing as the next man to laugh at my own faults, but I have the feeling that if she were to tell me to my face that I was a faggot who should die in a terror attack and who’s son was glad to be dead, I probably wouldn’t find that particularly funny.

Well except for the ones who invited her as a featured speaker at the Conservative Political Action Conference (attending with conservative unknowns like Guilliani and Cheney and speaking directly after Mitt Romney) and then gave her a round of applause for calling Edwards a faggot, right? Dude, did you go and get that quote directly from me in the last Coulter-thread? I used that, in response to a post by you, specifically as an example of something that actually is kinda funny and yet is so immensley unique for sake of being so.

Do you have another example? Seriously I think this is an interesting exercise, tell us what you find funny about her, which of her “jokes” you find hilarious. All the ones I can find are basically her wishing for most of the world’s population to die at this point, which I think we’d both have to agree isn’t the least bit comical, so please, if you would be so kind, reveal to us this humor she is supposed to possess.

Ann Coulter is just not funny. There are conservatives that are, but Coulter is not one of them. Michael Moore and Al Franken know humor, sometimes they get too sanctimonious, but they’re funny. Why is it you guys are convinced that if you say something is funny, that’s gotta be it? Something is either funny or it isn’t, devoid of the political persuasion.

And the right loves Coulter, it embraces her, parrots her rhetoric, and follows her “leadership”.

I still don’t get why the right embraces her (well, except for Frank. Good on ya, Frank). She’s not a good political analyst, not a good writer, not a good comedian, not a good public speaker, she plagiarizes, distorts and fabricates facts in her books and just comes off as mean and stupid.
I don’t get it. Like I said, Don Rickles is funny. She ain’t.

Okay, look Captain Observant, for the Third Fucking time now, I think the Kerry-had-a-dollar line is actually reasonably funny. My point was that, by being funny, it seems so uncharacteristic of Coulter, (who, let us not forget, is a bit of a plagiarist) who’s wit I can find no further example of. (And given the I take it by the fact you can’t quote another ‘joke’ or other statement that even you yourself find genuinely funny that you concede my point.

Well, I don’t know about gross…. hell, I don’t even know about “embrace.” They get a fraction of the exposure that Coulter gets on a regular basis. Sure, Moore has a movie to pimp, but he ain’t on Hardball for an hour, now is he?
Ever since Franken was on SNL in the ’70’s I’ve found him marginally funny. Sometimes, not even. But I’ll take his political analysis over coulter’s any day of the week. He’s a much better writer, and perhaps not a great speaker, but better than Coulter.
So, yeah, I can see that others have a different viewpoint and see teh funny in places I don’t go. Like saying she thought my Senator should have been killed. (They shot the wrong Lincoln.) I didn’t find that particularly funny.

Also, it helps when the topics at hand are ranking our Military on the scale of 1 to Nazi while on the Senate floor or waxing episodic in a column about who exactly possesses a laminated card that makes them an “official” member of the VRWC.

My comment was to Dugger who insists that Mr. Durbin “called the troops Nazis,” when in fact he did nothing of the sort. Mr. Dugger was quick to excuse Mr. Bozell, however, merely because he put “Coulter” and “leader” in separate sentences.

It’s safe to say we disagree on the Senator from Illinois. But if I may play Dugger (and/or Bozell) for a moment, I’d say that they were using the demonization of Coulter as an example to say “This is what the other side is capable of when they put their mind to it.” As a buttress to that argument, I’d point out that if the “leader” designation applied to Coulter, then it would also apply to the “you” in Bozell’s statement as well. And although I’m sure you’re a decent & honorable person, I would hardly label you as a Conservative leader.

I think on that point we would both agree.

Here ya go–this is from an FBI agent’s report:

“On a couple of occasions, I entered interview rooms to find a detainee chained hand and foot in a fetal position to the floor, with no chair, food or water. Most times they urinated or defecated on themselves, and had been left there for 18-24 hours or more. On one occasion, the air conditioning had been turned down so far and the temperature was so cold in the room, that the barefooted detainee was shaking with cold….On another occasion, the [air conditioner] had been turned off, making the temperature in the unventilated room well over 100 degrees. The detainee was almost unconscious on the floor, with a pile of hair next to him. He had apparently been literally pulling his hair out throughout the night. Durbin said that doesn’t sound like what Americans do.

I thought then, think, now the use of ‘Nazi’ to describe actions of US troops was greatly objectionable. Even if one were to agree with his ready-fire-aim mentality, he could have picked a number of less villainous adjectives to describe people risking their lives protecting his sorry *ss. And that doesn’t change one iota the context of Bozell’s remarks.

Really? Then why is she a best selling author? Why is she invited to speak a major conservative events?

Face it, she is a leader and a major player in the conservative movement. She may not come up with policy, but she is used to rally the base and demonize opponents.
