Brent Bozo professing something like that would be like Jesse Jackson annointing Al Sharpton as the official civil rights leader of all blacks.
Maybe so in Bozo’s world, but not in mine.
She is a conservative leader, which should be a source of shame for the conservative movement.
I unequivocally denounce the vile Ann Coulter.
Good for you Frank. Took long enough.
Actually, you butchered hte quote. It does not say Coulter is a leader, and in the preceding sentence, the one directly tied to Coulter, merely references ‘conservatives’. So other than getting it wrong, good job!
And, again, Coulter, like Mike Moore, Dan Rather, and Al Franken on your side, can be fun at times.
No. She can’t. Unless you hate her targets as much as she does.
I ask again, please demonstrate this famous Coulter Wit that I keep hearing about. To hear her speak she just seems petty and hateful. I’m as willing as the next man to laugh at my own faults, but I have the feeling that if she were to tell me to my face that I was a faggot who should die in a terror attack and who’s son was glad to be dead, I probably wouldn’t find that particularly funny.
Bozell is on crack and so is OW for peddling this crap. Ann Coulter is a leader of nothing. Most conservatives disregard her as a circus freak.
Now Rex, you are not disposed to find anything mocking sanctimonius leftists as funny - are you? So what is funny to me etc
“If John Kerry had a dollar for every time he bragged about serving in Vietnam — oh wait, he does.”
Most conservatives disregard her as a circus freak.
Well except for the ones who invited her as a featured speaker at the Conservative Political Action Conference (attending with conservative unknowns like Guilliani and Cheney and speaking directly after Mitt Romney) and then gave her a round of applause for calling Edwards a faggot, right? Yeah they avoid her like the plague they do.
“If John Kerry had a dollar…”
Dude, did you go and get that quote directly from me in the last Coulter-thread? I used that, in response to a post by you, specifically as an example of something that actually is kinda funny and yet is so immensley unique for sake of being so.
Do you have another example? Seriously I think this is an interesting exercise, tell us what you find funny about her, which of her “jokes” you find hilarious. All the ones I can find are basically her wishing for most of the world’s population to die at this point, which I think we’d both have to agree isn’t the least bit comical, so please, if you would be so kind, reveal to us this humor she is supposed to possess.
“Actually, you butchered hte quote. It does not say Coulter is a leader”
The quote:
“Today it’s Coulter, tomorrow it may be you. The left has demonstrated that it will stop at nothing, including flat-out dishonesty, to undermine our leaders.
It seems Mr. Bozell enjoys more latitude in his logical constructs than Mr. Durbin.
Ann Coulter is just not funny. There are conservatives that are, but Coulter is not one of them. Michael Moore and Al Franken know humor, sometimes they get too sanctimonious, but they’re funny. Why is it you guys are convinced that if you say something is funny, that’s gotta be it? Something is either funny or it isn’t, devoid of the political persuasion.
And the right loves Coulter, it embraces her, parrots her rhetoric, and follows her “leadership”.
I still don’t get why the right embraces her (well, except for Frank. Good on ya, Frank). She’s not a good political analyst, not a good writer, not a good comedian, not a good public speaker, she plagiarizes, distorts and fabricates facts in her books and just comes off as mean and stupid.
I don’t get it. Like I said, Don Rickles is funny. She ain’t.
Mean and stupid is what the right lives for.
rex
Actually I got it randomly from the Internet. And as I said, I fully expect you would find nothing funny from Coulter. After all, you do swear Bush lies, right?
duros
Why does the left embrace Moore or Franken. Have they not made gross mistakes? Can you not understand that people have diffrent beliefs than you and different senses of humor.
“And so basically, what it looks like is going to happen is that Libby and Karl Rove are going to be executed.” Al Franken
“In an odd way, I blame Linda Tripp and Ann Coulter for 9/11″ Franken again
And as I said, I fully expect you would find nothing funny from Coulter.
Okay, look Captain Observant, for the Third Fucking time now, I think the Kerry-had-a-dollar line is actually reasonably funny. My point was that, by being funny, it seems so uncharacteristic of Coulter, (who, let us not forget, is a bit of a plagiarist) who’s wit I can find no further example of. (And given the I take it by the fact you can’t quote another ‘joke’ or other statement that even you yourself find genuinely funny that you concede my point.
Why does the left embrace Moore or Franken. Have they not made gross mistakes?
Well, I don’t know about gross…. hell, I don’t even know about “embrace.” They get a fraction of the exposure that Coulter gets on a regular basis. Sure, Moore has a movie to pimp, but he ain’t on Hardball for an hour, now is he?
Ever since Franken was on SNL in the ’70’s I’ve found him marginally funny. Sometimes, not even. But I’ll take his political analysis over coulter’s any day of the week. He’s a much better writer, and perhaps not a great speaker, but better than Coulter.
So, yeah, I can see that others have a different viewpoint and see teh funny in places I don’t go. Like saying she thought my Senator should have been killed. (They shot the wrong Lincoln.) I didn’t find that particularly funny.
But my point remains; is she a comedian? A political analyst? A columnist? Cuz she isn’t particularly good at any of them.
What does she put in the box where it says Occupation?
It seems Mr. Bozell enjoys more latitude in his logical constructs than Mr. Durbin.
Mr. Durbin is a United States Senator. Mr. Bozell is not.
Also, it helps when the topics at hand are ranking our Military on the scale of 1 to Nazi while on the Senate floor or waxing episodic in a column about who exactly possesses a laminated card that makes them an “official” member of the VRWC.
Sure, Moore has a movie to pimp, but he ain’t on Hardball for an hour, now is he?
Sort of…
Mr. Durbin is a United States Senator. Mr. Bozell is not.
Immaterial. The distance you’re willing to leap from what-he-said to what-he-meant shouldn’t change.
Mr. Bozell’s quote is posted above in my earlier comment. I ask you: when he says “The left has demonstrated that it will stop at nothing, including flat-out dishonesty, to undermine our leaders,” what is the antecedent?
Further:
My comment was to Dugger who insists that Mr. Durbin “called the troops Nazis,” when in fact he did nothing of the sort. Mr. Dugger was quick to excuse Mr. Bozell, however, merely because he put “Coulter” and “leader” in separate sentences.
It’s safe to say we disagree on the Senator from Illinois. But if I may play Dugger (and/or Bozell) for a moment, I’d say that they were using the demonization of Coulter as an example to say “This is what the other side is capable of when they put their mind to it.” As a buttress to that argument, I’d point out that if the “leader” designation applied to Coulter, then it would also apply to the “you” in Bozell’s statement as well. And although I’m sure you’re a decent & honorable person, I would hardly label you as a Conservative leader.
I think on that point we would both agree.
So I repeat: what is the antecedent?
You disagree with me about Durbin?
Here ya go–this is from an FBI agent’s report:
“On a couple of occasions, I entered interview rooms to find a detainee chained hand and foot in a fetal position to the floor, with no chair, food or water. Most times they urinated or defecated on themselves, and had been left there for 18-24 hours or more. On one occasion, the air conditioning had been turned down so far and the temperature was so cold in the room, that the barefooted detainee was shaking with cold….On another occasion, the [air conditioner] had been turned off, making the temperature in the unventilated room well over 100 degrees. The detainee was almost unconscious on the floor, with a pile of hair next to him. He had apparently been literally pulling his hair out throughout the night. On another occasion, not only was the temperature unbearably hot, but extremely loud rap music was being played in the room, and had been since the day before, with the detainee chained hand and foot in the fetal position on the tile floor.”
Durbin said that doesn’t sound like what Americans do.
You disagree?
Farris,
You are aware that Moore got bumped from his scheduled full hour on Larry King, right? By Paris Hilton, no less? Clearly, Moore commands the greatest attention from the media.
And no, Farris, Bozell’s use of “it could be you” doesn’t include me.
Bozell: “But Ann Coulter is owed an apology from those outlets, including NBC’s Nightly News, The Washington Post and CNN’s American Morning, which have mis-reported her comments. And conservatives, take note: Today it’s Coulter, tomorrow it may be you. The left has demonstrated that it will stop at nothing, including flat-out dishonesty, to undermine our leaders.”
Mr. Bozell was clearly not including me among the potential targets of leftist perfidy.
Still kicking ol’ Ann around?
Dang. What did she ever do to you?
1. I wish.
2. Make a mockery of the “civility” of the right I hear so much about.
duros
Franken is/was a radio talk show personality and now a candidate for Senate. And if Mike Moore has not been embraced by the big money left wing establishment-
“Ohh dear. Another Cannes award? How outre!”-
then I don’t know who has.
Quaker
I thought we had beaten that to mutliple deaths. First of all, I never said he called the troops Nazis. I thought then, think, now the use of ‘Nazi’ to describe actions of US troops was greatly objectionable. Even if one were to agree with his ready-fire-aim mentality, he could have picked a number of less villainous adjectives to describe people risking their lives protecting his sorry *ss. And that doesn’t change one iota the context of Bozell’s remarks.
Then I refer you to my question above. Read the excerpt of the FBI agent’s report.
At the time of Mr. Durbin’s remarks, I don’t think anyone would have said: “Yep. Sounds like Americans to me!”
Regrettably, times change.
And that doesn’t change one iota the context of Bozell’s remarks.
I gotcher context right here, buddy:
Bozell: “But Ann Coulter is owed an apology from those outlets, including NBC’s Nightly News, The Washington Post and CNN’s American Morning, which have mis-reported her comments. And conservatives, take note: Today it’s Coulter, tomorrow it may be you. The left has demonstrated that it will stop at nothing, including flat-out dishonesty, to undermine our leaders.”
Sounds like he’s calling her a “leader” to me.
“I never said he called the troops Nazis…he could have picked a number of less villainous adjectives to describe people risking their lives…”
Which is it? If you never said he called them Nazis, what adjective are we talking about?
“Bozell is on crack and so is OW for peddling this crap. Ann Coulter is a leader of nothing. Most conservatives disregard her as a circus freak.”
Really? Then why is she a best selling author? Why is she invited to speak a major conservative events?
Face it, she is a leader and a major player in the conservative movement. She may not come up with policy, but she is used to rally the base and demonize opponents.
She may not come up with policy
So is she an entertainer.
Rally the base, my ass!
What, exactly, specifically, has she ever “rallied the base” to do? Vote Republican? Fly a plane into the Times Building?
What none of you realize is that that book has dozens, if not hundreds, of left wing talking points that are annihilated, and you’re comparing her to Hitler, and criticizing people for not despising her sufficiently.
I can just imagine the tears she’s crying as she’s buying new cars and homes.
Sneer.
“Rally the base, my ass!
What, exactly, specifically, has she ever “rallied the base” to do? Vote Republican?”
Yes. As well as get the donors to give money. Why do you think she’s ask to speak at so many conservative events?
“I can just imagine the tears she’s crying as she’s buying new cars and homes.”
With right-wing money.
that book has dozens, if not hundreds, of left wing talking points that are annihilated
Many of them wrong, poorly researched or outright fabrications.
So perhaps she’s a fiction writer.
Many of them wrong, poorly researched or outright fabrications.
I assume you got that knowledge from Book Reviews on left wing blogs. [Because you have not read any of her books, have you?]
Not to mention the fact that you should know that “talking points” aren’t necessarily true, on either side of the aisle.
“Many of them wrong, poorly researched or outright fabrications.”
“I assume you got that knowledge from Book Reviews on left wing blogs”
I got that from Spin Sanity, which sadly shut down. (It can still be found here: ttp://www.spinsanity.org/)
“Not to mention the fact that you should know that “talking points” aren’t necessarily true, on either side of the aisle.”
Translation: I know she lies, but everyone does it so that’s okay.
Clem, your assholeness know no bounds.
I know she lies, but everyone does it so that’s okay.
Translation: I know everyone lies, but I’m trying desperately to pretend it’s worse when she lies.
And how did you get Duros’ assessment of Coulter’s writing from Spin Sanity?
Talk about stalking.
“Clem, your assholeness know no bounds.”
“I know she lies, but everyone does it so that’s okay.”
“Translation: I know everyone lies, but I’m trying desperately to pretend it’s worse when she lies.”
Oh dear god. Do you hate the truth so much you can’t go one post without lying?
Or are you one of those crazy people who thinks all lies are equal? Lying about why your 10 minutes late for work is the same as lying about WMD to get someone into a war.
“And how did you get Duros’ assessment of Coulter’s writing from Spin Sanity?
Talk about stalking.”
… Are you drunk? Are you high on some kind of medication when you post here?
That’s the only logical explanation I can think of for this crap.
Thank you, CS

Another conservative jumping to the defense of Anne.
She is the face of the Republican party and the Democrats should tell the American people that.
