Military Recruitment Plunges Among Blacks

Clearly if we use the obviously superior conservative logic, the significant drop in black recruitment for the military is clear proof that we blacks are less patriotic than the average American. We were just talking about this in the meeting the other day…

“… clear proof that we blacks are less patriotic than the average American”? More likely it proves superior intelligence.

  2. Gravatar Icon 2 Frank

So I guess we won’t be hearing that the military entraps poor minority kids anymore, eh?

Then how long will it be before we hear that the military is discriminating against minorities by not allowing them to join?

Once again, the “national conversation on race” grinds to a halt, as the “Black Leadership” sits on the ground, paralyzed, whispering, “Oooh — something shiny!”

  3. Gravatar Icon 3 Repack Rider

the “Black Leadership” sits on the ground, paralyzed, whispering, “Oooh — something shiny!”

Isn’t that what the “White” leadership did on 9/11?

  4. Gravatar Icon 4 Oliver Willis

Yeah, those fucking niggers, right Frank? Just come out and say it.

  5. Gravatar Icon 5 condipundit

“Once again, the “national conversation on race” grinds to a halt”

When were you, or any of your pals on the right ever a part of that “conversation”, Frankie?

Or does “conversation” mean your usual, deep, thoughful sort of analysis displayed in your comment?

    You’re transparent, kid.

    And oh-so-typical. Wheeee!

“Clearly if we use the obviously superior conservative logic, the significant drop in black recruitment for the military is clear proof that we blacks are less patriotic than the average American.”

That’s what they’ll say. And then they’ll wonder why black people don’t vote for Republicans.

  7. Gravatar Icon 7 merlallen

It seems the Young Republicans hate America, too. There aren’t many of them enlisting. Hell, most Republican’ts must also hate America, right frank, you cowardly chickenhawk?

  8. Gravatar Icon 8 Dugger

I like how Oliver sets up a hypothetical conservative response and then expresses his outrage about that response. And his little thoughtless lumpen proletariat lemmings chime in predictably.

I think we should demand Rush Limbaugh apologize for what OW imagines he might say!!!

  9. Gravatar Icon 9 Frank

No, Oliver, the “Black leadership”, which, IMHO, is hardly ever in line with the average black man or woman, is to busy blaming whitey, too busy discovering false offenses, and too busy (as in this case), proving their affinity to liberal causes; to address important things, like male irresponsibility in fatherhood, teen pregnancy, drop-out rates, the crab bucket factor.

But, no, we’ve found something that makes Bush looks bad (”the shiny thing”), so let’s look at it for a while. You mean no one in the black community has heard of enlisting as a non - combatant?

  10. Gravatar Icon 10 Dugger

Actually, as of June 11, all of the active servcies (per DOD) had met their recruitment goals. This is a typical non-issue. its your posting as to teh eprcentage of blacks on that list. Why don’t you decide why that is so (if it is so), instead of feigning outrage at what you GUESS some non-existent conservative might have said.

    What a dumb item.

  11. Gravatar Icon 11 C.S.Strowbridge

“Actually, as of June 11, all of the active servcies (per DOD) had met their recruitment goals.”

Real goals, or massively reduced goals? They have cut expectations in the past in order to claim they reached goals.

  12. Gravatar Icon 12 Duros62

    the crab bucket factor

    The what, now?

  13. Gravatar Icon 13 Frank

Always glad to educate when I can:

  14. Gravatar Icon 14 Dugger

Probably something in between, CS. Recruitment goals also fluctuate in relation to retention and retention has been strong.

  15. Gravatar Icon 15 condipundit

“No, Oliver, the “Black leadership”, which, IMHO, is hardly ever in line with the average black man or woman, is to busy blaming whitey, too busy discovering false offenses, and too busy (as in this case), proving their affinity to liberal causes; to address important things, like male irresponsibility in fatherhood, teen pregnancy, drop-out rates,”

This line itself has to be a brilliant, multi-part joke of almost Andy Kaufman-esque archness.

1.) “IMHO”—a “humble” opinion…“humble”? From the likes of your pontificating ass?
(Peals of laughter erupt from the audience)

2.) Then, the satirical attempt from a hard-core wingnut to claim some level—shit, any level of expertise in what the average Black man or woman thinks?
(Peals again, punctuated with scattered, coughing guffaws from down in front.

3.) “Blaming whitey”—Oh, my. Let’s all get our “fist-handled” afro picks, black berets and machine guns ready my brothers! And after the big rally, we can sit down and plot the final takedown of “whitey”…after tonight’s really subversive episode of “Julia”, that is.

4.) “Too busy discovering false offenses”—Redlining, block-busting, employment discrimination, inequality in sentencing, republican voter intimidation, police brutality…you can fabricate false offenses, Frankie—Real ones get discovered—and these are real ones—establishent and government sanctioned. But hey! the joke is, Frankie wants to tell Black people what they should be concerned with!
(At this point during the wall of Charlie Brown “Ha-Has” filling the air, a woman falls from the balcony, landing in the aisle convulsed with laughter even after impact.)

5.) “and too busy (as in this case), proving their affinity to liberal causes;”–It’s the leadership! The leadership that’s liberal! Not the rank and file citizens, who bucked the patriarchy and voted in huge numbers for wingnut “blacks” closer to their “actual” views like Michael Steele, Kenny-Boy Blackwell, and Lynn Swann in ‘06, right? No? (Steve Martin voice) “Well, excuuuuuuuuuuse meeeeeeee!”
(Two heavy mens’ sides actually split open, spilling entrails on the theatre floor as they laugh uncontrollably. They simply pile their guts back in, as the crowd’s roaring laughter sways the chandeliers.)

5.) “address important things, like male irresponsibility in fatherhood, teen pregnancy, drop-out rates, the crab bucket factor.”–Someone who claims to have stopped “listening to Rush” evidently still does. Not only are these issues being addressed by Black leadership (listen to Obama’s speech in Selma, and even some of the ham-fisted polemics of Cosby and Oprah for examples), but the numbers indicate that the problems are being fixed—marked drops in teen pregnancy and dropout rates among Blacks have been recorded in the last 15 years—but talking point spewing racists either don’t know it-oh fuck, they know it, it just doesn’t fit their agenda. And hey—it would cost too much to print out and distribute new copies of fucked up, racist shit to say!
(The entire balcony collapses now, spilling hundreds of guffawing people onto the laps of the ones below. They catch them, look at each other, and then fall out of the orcehstra seats, pounding the sticky floor and crying through the laughs)

Then, a rim shot for tossing in the “crab-bucket” thang to sound oh-so-down with “the struggle”. A pratfall from the stage, followed by a “and don’t get me started on ‘light skin/dark skin!”

The curtain comes down, right on his head, his eyes crossing as he hits the deck and the crowd stands as one, giving a standing, laughing ovation.

You’re a walking, talking, 24-7 piece of wingnut performance art, kid. And you’re damned funny doing it! Keep it up! :)

  16. Gravatar Icon 16 Duros62

    Frank, I liked this bit:

He should abandon the politics of envy, and kiss the son, lest he be angry, and perish.

    No further comment.

  17. Gravatar Icon 17 Frank

I’m always proud to be the target of “Fisking”, however incomprehensible.

Duros, I’m not sure what you mean, but Hooray!

  18. Gravatar Icon 18 condipundit

    “however incomprehensible.”

Shorter Frank: “Gulp!” Busted. Um…I don’t get it.

  19. Gravatar Icon 19 Frank

condipundit: You took your name from a blog I used to write for. Then you link to WikiPedia’s entry on Aunt Jemima.
Cliché and poor joke number one.

I use a standard Internet idiom, and you refer to “my pontificating ass”. Did you steal that line from Dave Chappelle?

Then you betray your own prejudice by assuming that, since I have conservative political beliefs, I couldn’t possibly know any black people or how they live. Well, of course, you don’t know enough about me to know how many black people I know, or how well I know them. I’m not flashing my credentials for you. You might be white yourself — how would I know?

“Blaming whitey” — there’s a joke, all right! No one’s ever done that before, huh? Shit, even white people blame whitey…

Here’s the “real” offenses you named:
    Redlining: History

    block-busting: Ancient history

    employment discrimination: Ancient history

    inequality in sentencing: B.S.

    republican voter intimidation: B.S.

police brutality: Only news when it happens to black folks

Why do blacks for liberals, smartass? They haven’t done a godamed thing for them since 1965.

“the numbers indicate that the problems are being fixed … in the last 15 years”

OOooooooo - Wheeeeee! That’s some progress. So, in other words, in order to get Black family life back where it was in the 1930’s, might take until the 2030’s!

But keep your eye on black recruitment — it’s real important.

The crab - bucket reference was easy. I just Googled “problems in the black community that most white people aren’t very familiar with” just to impress you (because I anticipated your retort), and — poof! — there it was!

And your finale? Calling me kid, when I’m probably twice your age.

You are walking, talking, 24-7 black cliche.

“You don’t know what it’s like to black, and I can’t explain it to you because you wouldn’t understand, and if you did understand, you wouldn’t help me because you’re white, and I’m black…”

    Please call a w-a-a-a-a-mbulance!

  20. Gravatar Icon 20 condipundit

    Oh, my.

    Guess it was comprehensible.

    Hit a nerve, too.

    With Mister “wingnut-expert-on-all-things-moulin-fucking-yan”.

And for your brilliant, ripping finalé? “Call a w-a-a-a-a-mbulance!” ?

The temptation is to say you’re slipping, Frankie. But damned if you ain’t already on the ground bleeding along with your wingnut masters.

    One thing’s for sure—you’re good for a laugh. :)

  21. Gravatar Icon 21 Frank

What nerve did I hit, Junior?

I can’t wait to hear this, Mister “Maybe I’m black”.

  22. Gravatar Icon 22 Frank

What happened, Junior, you forgot to tape Tavis so you got nothing to say?

  23. Gravatar Icon 23 condipundit

Don’t take much to get you unpacking the ol’ bats from the trunk, does it Frankie?

    God, but you’re fun. :)

  24. Gravatar Icon 24 Frank

I’m still waiting for an original thought.

  25. Gravatar Icon 25 Frank

    That’s what I thought.
    Good night, Gracie.

  26. Gravatar Icon 26 C.S.Strowbridge

“What happened, Junior, you forgot to tape Tavis so you got nothing to say?”

Guy doesn’t respondin seven minutes so you think he’s run away.

    “That’s what I thought.”

Now you wait less than 2 minutes to declare victory.

What the fuck is wrong with you?

  27. Gravatar Icon 27 condipundit

Awwww! I went to bed and missed my insomniac, angry, little racist stalker-bitch having yet another hissy fit.

“Oh yeah? Oh yeah? Oh yeah? Well…poopyshtink on you! Hah! I am teh world champeen internetz tuff guy! Yaaaaaaay!”

I almost wish…almost wish there was a prize for getting a half-century old guy with grown kids act like an Atari-t-shirted, basement-dwellling, maladjusted dweeb, but you know what?

It was just too damned easy. :)
    Now watch this drive! :)

  28. Gravatar Icon 28 Frank

    You are indeed humorous, condipundit.

What a wonder you would be if you could add intelligence to that wit.

You could actually be something besides Oliver’s Comedian of the Week.

  29. Gravatar Icon 29 Frank

BTW, condipundit, calling me a racist doesn’t upset me in the slightest. I know I’m not one, and I don’t need your assessment to determine my point of view. As for stalking, simple observation indicates that your comments follow mine.

And any brother whoever stood on a corner can play a race card. That doesn’t mean it will win.

  30. Gravatar Icon 30 Zython

know I’m not one, and I don’t need your assessment to determine my point of view.

Says the guy that called black people “feral”.

  31. Gravatar Icon 31 Frank

OK, I’ll bite — go get the quote, so I can indicate what a nincompoop you are.

  32. Gravatar Icon 32 Frank

Be sure to link to the entire post, so I can show just how completely wrong you are — Starting with “calling black people feral”.

    That didn’t happen.

  33. Gravatar Icon 33 Frank

Perhaps you have found it, and realized how wrong you are. It is a common habit around here, especially with regards to conservative comments, that when challenged, the posts come to an end.

But,perhaps you have never found it. I will sum it up. I wrote a paper on homeless families in the early 90’s, where I predicted that if the situation continued, we woyld soon have a generation of feral children.

It was the prejudice of the readers which led them to believe that I was talking about black families, as if only black mothers are single and homeless.

What we see is that most of the people here are racists, who believe that black people need special consideration just to get along normally in life.

  34. Gravatar Icon 34 Zython

Geeze, calm down, Frankie. I was doing other things. Have some patience.

    Here you go

It was the prejudice of the readers which led them to believe that I was talking about black families, as if only black mothers are single and homeless.

No, it was the fact that Oliver’s post was about race that would lead one to assume that you too were talking about race. But Frank either brought up the homeless angle for one of two reasons:

    1. As a cover of plausable deniability.
    2. Because he doesn’t give a shit of what the topic at hand is and thinks he owns the discussion.

  35. Gravatar Icon 35 Frank

Now you want to change the subject, because you were incorrect.

You brought up the idea that I had said “Black people were feral.”

    I did not.

Now you want to argue another point.

    Sorry, no can do.

    Game over.

    You lose.

  36. Gravatar Icon 36 C.S.Strowbridge

“As a cover of plausable deniability.”

I do believe you are correct.

Reading the whole thread. it is impossible to conclude race was not an issue when he used the term feral. The discussion was about blacks and he did say, “predicted that we were about to have a generation of near feral children, and now we do.”

If the subject had been homelessness, or homelessness among black families, then you would have a case.

If even said, “And I used the term “near feral”, didn’t I?” That would further indicate he was talking about blacks when he used the term.

  37. Gravatar Icon 37 Zython

Now you want to change the subject, because you were incorrect.

You brought up the idea that I had said “Black people were feral.”

    I did not.

Now you want to argue another point.

    Sorry, no can do.

Translation: “I’m too stupid to keep track of two arguements at once.”

I’m talking about a related point, let’s follow the steps:

    1. I pointed out that you called black people “feral”.

    2. You claim that you were only calling homeless people “feral”.

    3. I point out that homelessness was never part of that previous discussion, and I theorized reasons why you would make that claim.

Apparantly, in Frankie-World, making new arguements is “changing the subject”. *Pats Frankie on the head* you go on believing that.

  38. Gravatar Icon 38 Frank

How can I answer you and not be accused of being retarded (your word, not mine) because I don’t understand the meaning of the word “ignore”?

    Sorry.

  39. Gravatar Icon 39 Frank

P.S. Zython: In the REAL world, making new arguments is “changing the subject”.

  40. Gravatar Icon 40 Frank

Zython loses, declares victory, and treats himself to his Mom’s special recipe for ice cold Ovaltine.

  41. Gravatar Icon 41 C.S.Strowbridge

“How can I answer you and not be accused of being retarded (your word, not mine) because I don’t understand the meaning of the word “ignore”?”

So you refuse to answer because you don’t want to be accused of breaking your vow to ignore us, then you reply two more times. Mental retardation does seem to be a likely reason for your behavior.

By the way, he wasn’t changing the subject; the discussion was evolving.

If person A says, “Blah, Blah, Blah.”

And person B says, “Yadda, Yadda, Yadda.”

Person A will obviously say something different than, “Blah, Blah, Blah.”

  42. Gravatar Icon 42 Frank

How did I know you you would defend Zython with some sophistry?

Can’t you ever surprise me by being reasonable?

Oliver’s post was not about “race”, per se, any more than my comment was about homelessness.

(You do realize that I am explaining this to you for two reasons:
    1) You have incorrectly assumed that I am a racist, and you have put me in the uncomfortable position of proving I am not.
    2) Because you totally misunderstood the meaning and significance of my post, and lack either the grace or the courage to simply state, “I don’t know what you mean. Could you explain it, please”.

I know, in your view, I am not entitled to that courtesy. Of course, in my view, I am.)

I will not withhold the answer because you are not entitled to it. I will answer it, to prove that you are both incorrect and immature.

The post was about “acting white”, referring to the peer pressure on blacks by blacks to not succeed, i.e, not do well in school, do drugs, etc., because that’s “acting white.”

    I quote from the link:

the inverted-pyramid hierarchy of values stemming from the glorification of lower-class reality in the hip-hop era — has quietly taken the place of white racism as the most formidable obstacle to success and equality in the black middle classes.

My comment referred to the fact that the increasing number of homeless families was going to lead to a generation of “near feral” children (or so I predicted) [which has the same meaning as "the inverted-pyramid hierarchy of values stemming from the glorification of lower-class reality in the hip-hop era"] which we see today.

So, the comment was completely relevant, and in no way indicates any racism on my part. How could it? I’m not the racist. You are.

Apology accepted. Even for being so politically incorrect as to call anyone retarded.

  43. Gravatar Icon 43 C.S.Strowbridge

“Oliver’s post was not about ‘race’, per se,”

Really? It was about black people attacking other black people for acting white. That’s a lot of race in a post not about race. Since your very first premise is a lie, I see little reason to trust the rest of the crap you spew.

    However…

“My comment referred to the fact that the increasing number of homeless families was going to lead to a generation of “near feral” children (or so I predicted) [which has the same meaning as "the inverted-pyramid hierarchy of values stemming from the glorification of lower-class reality in the hip-hop era"] which we see today.”

1.) You predicted that there would be a lot of near-feral kids.

2.) In a discussion on black youths, you said it came true, that we have a lot of near-feral kids.

3.) If you weren’t referring to the black youths, then who the fuck were you referring to?

4.) In addition, near-feral has nothing to do with inverted value systems. To think so is retarded.

5.) In order to full appreciated that last sentence you must to say it with a Boston accent.

  44. Gravatar Icon 44 Frank

My favorite: near-feral has nothing to do with inverted value systems
You really don’t understand what I was saying, do you?
Of course it does, you horse’s ass!

  45. Gravatar Icon 45 Frank

You really pissing me off. Your ignorance on this issue is invincible.
You can simply deny what I am saying because you truly have no idea what I meant.
Rather than admit that, you will continue to plague me.
    Go away.
    You are wrong.
    Go away.
