Actually, wait for the usual talking heads to start claiming this as a sign of Bush’s mastery of diplomacy…that the way to do things is clearly to refuse to talk to people for years, and then sit down with them after you’ve thoroughly destroyed your own global reputation and credibility.

Also I seem to remember a lot of criticism over “going it alone”, “not forming a coalition with our allies,” etc. Now are you all saying that we should go it alone and forgo input from out allies via a multilateral negotiating format?
