Somehow I think Hollywood actor Fred Thompson’s friendship with convicted felon Scooter Libby is gonna be under some scrutiny now that he’s more or less in the field.

Last time I checked, Hillary Clinton is married to a felon. Perjury is a felony for Democrats and Republicans too.
Oliver will just whine about the both of you being a part of the Republican Noise Machine.
Once again, another example of Oliver espousing what he professes to hate when it becomes politically expedient.
It’s as predictable as the sunrise tomorrow morning.
1. Clinton was never convicted of perjury
2. His dishonest testimony was in a matter completely unrelated to the execution of his office
3. Hillary has never called for her husband to be pardoned, as Thompson has for Libby
So you see, my friends, the issue is not just that Thompson is friends with Libby, the issue is that he has spearheaded an effort to defend him and has shown no respect for the jury verdict against him.
Ah, yet another wingnut false equivalence deflated: like swatting flies in a barrel.
That having been said, I doubt this will lose Thompson many votes.

Mike may want to check again. Clinton is not a felon. Other than that, he’s right on the ball. Perjury IS a felony for Dems and Republics alike. So why do Republics want to pardon Libby?
You clearly didn’t check at all, then. Clinton has never been convicted of a felony. He has a cleaner arrest record than both George W. Bush (One arrest, pled guilty) and Dick Cheney (two arrests & convictions).
So I guess it’s “different” because Scooter Libby actually is a felon, and you’re just completely wrong.
I know this continues to be hard for you guys to grasp, but actual things that happened here on planet earth are not exactly the same as things you wish had happened, but didn’t.

Berger ultimately plead guilty to a misdemeanor, not a felony. However, a guilty plea is the same as a conviction.

The Scooter Libby story is old news. No one cares. Even the jurors who convicted him felt bad for him that he was simply the scapegoat. Please try and make it into a big story.

Scooter Libby’s crime was inconsistent responses…including making up stuff that was demonstrably false…to questions… asked by federal law enforcement and in front of a grand jury under oath …about interviews with reporters… no, that’s not quite right…taking positive action to provide information to reporters…that’s better …concerning a…a situation that was later determined to be …a non-crime…because the investigator decided he could not gather enough information to prove motive. The prosecutor successfully convinced a jury of American citizens in a court of law that Mr. Libby’s fabrications hindered the investigation.
