Cheney Encounter, Sort Of, With Suicide Bomber

FYI

A suicide bomber killed 19 people and wounded 11 outside the main U.S. military base in Afghanistan on Tuesday during a visit by Vice President Dick Cheney, though the vice president was apparently not in danger, U.S. and Afghan officials said.

The blast happened near the first security gate outside the base at Bagram, killing 19 people, said Khoja Mohammad Qasim Sayedi, chief of the province’s public health department. Gov. Abdul Jabar Taqwa said “18 to 20 dead bodies” lay on the ground after the blast.

As others have pointed out, pretty nonsensical that five years after “we won”, visits by high US officials to Afghanistan and Iraq have to be kept secret to keep our officials from being targeted like this.

    We’ve turned a corner alright.

How do you kill the Undead?

Sounds like Cheney was able to fly out with a fully stocked freezer. Good for his friends that he won’t have to try to blow their heads off to satiate his need for fresh human flesh. Perpetual war - it has its upsides.

    OK, that’s enough of that.

Even if you’d like to see the man leave office, be so good as to wish for him to exit in one piece.

Cheney’s the new bag man now? I thought Condeleeza was picking up the payoffs?

When the enemy can not only find where the VP is hiding and managed to explode a car bomb to try and get him it shows how well the war is going. The Taliban is obviously also in The Last Throes.

Now we know what Cheney means when he says things are going okay in Iraq and Afghanistan. He means that he, personally, hasn’t been killed yet.

I thought only Republicans wished harm upon their political enemies.

At least that’s what Oliver kept telling me.

I’m not seeing any wishes of harm…

November 24, 2003 http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/11/20031124-6.html — ”Working with a fine coalition, our military went to Afghanistan, destroyed the training camps of al Qaeda, and put the Taliban out of business forever.” (Applause.)

I did’t see any mention of anyone wishing him harm either. I wish the frightwingers would stop projecting so much.

Could it be my sardonic post that sent the Cheney-bots in to autotron cry foul mode?

I hope so because the gloves are coming off when it comes to going to the canvass with ideological fools and their minions.

Cheney has caused a lot of innocent people to get killed and maimed in his attempts to show a vapid enemy that we are one bunch of tough hombres. How’s that one working out?

The poor souls that were blown up while Cheney has to make the world rounds to avoid the possible political fallout of Scooter’s trial just adds to the long list of this coward’s indiscretions.

Cheney is a ghoulish fiend, and those that support him are monsters in their own rights. That is where he has led you. Deal with it.
