I had a shot, via Robert Cox and the Media Bloggers Association, to attend the Scooter Libby trial here in D.C. I declined mostly because I thought it would be the most boring thing ever. Frankly, I think I made the right call. A lot of ink and tv time is being devoted to it, and it honestly doesn’t reveal much new - the idea that the press has been on it’s knees for the Bush administration or that the administration has total contempt for the public and the press? I could have told you that in January of 2001. Tim Russert is a useful tool of the right? DUH.
On the off chance Libby gets convicted, Bush is going to pardon him anyway.

…not to mention the fact that it really doesn’t fit in with those months of those “outing Valerie Plame” posts you did way back when.
Did you ever issue a correction? And does it bother you at all that Fitz’ wasted so much of the taxpayer’s money when he had the answers from the beginning?
The country needs a conviction in this. We need to demonstrate to our covert assets that the US does not tolerate them being outed for political or personal gain. This may send a message to the Bush Administration to stop doing so. If there had been real consequences, Condi Rice might have thought twice about exposing a turned Al Qaeda operative. Bush & Co. might not have passed state secrets on to Ahmed Chalabi thus keeping that knowledge from Iran…
Clue for midderpidge:
Libby is not on trial for outing a covert asset for political or personal gain.
The person who really “outed” Ms. Plame (Richard Armitage) is not on trial for anything.
Unless you’re in favor of convicting people for crimes they’re not accused of, maybe you can explain what this trial is all about.
Are you saying that Libby is not being accused of a crime?
