Salthy language? Fuck that then.
Sarah is not your cup of tea and certain others are. She appeals to the more cerebral person. Other comedians just go for laughs on a “man of the people” basis. Once you hear their act or see them it’s always the same even with some different jokes. Sarah does stuff that you can watch more than once and you can catch things you didn’t the first time. Most of her jokes or scenes have several levels working all at once. Whoopi Goldberg sometimes works that way. Larry David works that way. Dane Cook doesn’t work on this level but rather the other level.
Sarah Silverman is cerebral? If that’s a thinking comic, I’m a hat.
Maybe there’s a reason her work escapes you.
Yes, it isn’t very funny. It’s kind of funny, but not the way the media presents it as the funniest thing ever to see a cute girl say swear words.
So the problem seems to be the media portrayal, or is it a woman saying swear words? There is a good deal more to what she does than just swear words. I expect you then have the same problem as I do with most of what I see for comedians on BET and Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy and Cat Williams and others whose whole act is swear words, sexual references or how they got beat up as a kid. Every sentence just about from these people is filled with swear words. Either way OW it doesn’t really matter since you don’t get her humor. Seeing more things she has done might change that but I doubt it because you seem to have closed your mind about her.
Shorter Chuck:
If you don’t think Sarah’s funny then you’re too stupid to understand how many levels she works on.
(backing away slowly)
At least 10, maybe 11 levels to this.

What can I say, pure brilliance.
I just didn’t want to come right out and say it.
I wrote a post and my browser crashed.
Just in brief…

This bit does have more than one layer. First is simple mimickry, second is poking fun at Comedy Central and their attempts to replace Chappelle, (third could be Sarah’s stress over having to fill his shoes), and also there’s the political angle where two people can say the same thing and get two different reactions because of their skin color, sex, etc.
However, liking or not like a comic is more than just saying you don’t get it. it could be not liking their delivery.
For instance, I can read a lot of Mitch Hedberg’s joke and think they are great. However, I hated the man’s delivery. His style killed the humor for me.
Then are just plain not getting. Saying Sarah is racist is crap. Yes, she uses racist words and ideas in her humor, (her use of the phrase, “alleged holocaust” is a perfect example). But far from supporting racist views, she shows just how stupid they are.
I’m still not going to say you are dumb if you don’t like Sarah Silverman because humor is too subjective. However, there is more to her than outword appearances.
Point from my original post I forgot to mention in my second one…
The original question was, ‘Would Sarah Silverman be considered as funny as she is if she wasn’t cute?’
I have another question, ‘Would Woody Allen be considered as funny as he is if he was six foot nine?’
The answer to both is no… and yes. They couldn’t do the same routines they do now, but they would be able to adapt and come up with something new.
I didn’t say she wasn’t funny. Silverman is for me a chuckle comic. It certainly isn’t the OMG CAN YOU BELIEVE WHAT SHE IS SAYING THAT IS SO INSANE WHAT SHE’S SAYING comedy the media is treating it as. A big part of comedy is the actual material and if her material were not being delivered by a cute girl who likes to say “ass play” it wouldn’t be as “funny”.
Ain’t many comedians like that around anymore.
Except maybe Rush and Michael Savage.
On a different topic, why are you people so damn sensitive?
