Look, What’s That…

It’s my navel. Let’s talk more about how awesome my navel is. Nice navel. Awesome navel.

Sometimes you have to step back, take a good look, and argue about how many angels can fit on the head of a pin!

There are people who love the minutiae of details, others broad generalities.

    We need both.

Isn’t commenting on this navel-gazing an even worse case of navel-gazing?

And isn’t commenting on this commenting on navel-gazing an even worse set of navel-gazing?

And isn’t commenting on this commenting on this commenting on this navel-gazing an even worse…..

Oliver, you do have a sense of humor!
    Who woulda think it?

I guess that whole “possible war with Iran” story just isn’t newsworthy enough.

Bloggers blogging about the bloggers who blog?

    Riveting.

I must admit, the graphical visualization of the linking frequency is rather neato.

Right wingers have managed to make their talking points the default not because of holding any moral high ground. They’ve controlled the debate for the last 25 years because they mastered the flow of communication. They learned how to manipulate (the already conservatively inclined) corporate media. Right wing communicators still dominate the public discourse, even though polls (and the last election) have clearly demonstrated that the majority of U.S. citizens reject some or most of what they are offering.

Again, how has the right wing done this? Organization. They learned how to integrate different media and build bridges between different classes of media users. That’s how they’ve consistently been able to sell shit as shinola from Reagan through Chimpie (though they obviously laid the foundation during Nixon’s term).

So go ahead, poke fun at Chris Bowers. When Rethugs capture another White House, or regain Congress, or manage some other virtual coup by appealing directly to a knuckle-dragging third of the voting population, you can poke fun at him again. Don’t think the recent congressional ‘victory’ will mean squat in the long term unless the war of ideas– and idea distribution– can be won in the trenches. You should know this more than anyone, OW.

And pray tell how do we create a communications infrastructure by bitching about blogging, because that’s all that’s going on there and specifically why I pointed it out.

    Slow news day, Oliver?

I don’t know if we read the same post, OW. The one you link to looks like a sober critical analysis, not “bitching.”

It looks like Bowers is making a very good point about apparently different zones of the liberal/progressive blogosphere being more alike than different. He isn’t “bitching”; he’s suggesting that there should be more overt cooperation.

If you’re referring to the comments section of that post, and the lack of simplistic unity there is what offended you, then I suggest you wander over to Little Green Footballs and see what simplistic unity looks like.

I don’t care about the comments. This endless analysis of one’s navel gets you nowhere. It doesn’t build anything.
