The Tinkerbell Caucus Loses Another One

A few months ago, NY Post columnist penned a highly linked to story about how great things were going in Iraq. Lets jump in the time machine back to March of 2006:

I left Baghdad more optimistic than I was before this visit. While cynicism, political bias and the pressure of a 24/7 news cycle accelerate a race to the bottom in reporting, there are good reasons to be soberly hopeful about Iraq’s future.

And yet, now it is November and like much of this war’s cheerleaders on the media and on the right, Peters is whistling another tune.

While the eventual outcome of America’s engagement in Iraq remains to be seen - catastrophe or disaster are the two likely options - one thing we have learned is that conservatives have absolutely no credibility nor clue on foreign policy. For years the left has been maligned with the “Vietnam syndrome” but as Holocaust survivors will tell you - those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it. America must learn the lessons of WWII, Vietnam, Iraq and the other conflicts inbetween and weigh them all when we once again are faced with the decision to commit troops into harms way.
