I won’t defend Saw 2, but the Descent was pretty good. Last King of Scotland’s the scariest movie I’ve seen this year, though. But what’s the common strain between Saw 1, 2, & 3, Hostel 1 & 2, Wolf Creek, Texas Chainsaw: the Beginning, and Turistas? Fear of torture.
Just goes to show that for us Americans, the scariest thing out there is what al Qaeda or some Republicans might do to us in a windowless room somewhere.
Although I should say that for me personally, my greatest terror is being spit on by George Allen. I’m sure his wife would agree.
If O’Reilly would turn his focus to This Masterpiece, he could fight his war on horror films and his war on the war on Christmas at the same time.
That way he could wage two really important battles at once, while ignoring irrelevant things like Iraq, the economy, our eroding liberties, etc.
O’Rielly is a moron, but have you seen Saw 3? Bejesus tap-dancing Christ! The was the nastiest film ever.
Dr.A,
That is an interesting though about torture, but wouldn’t you also say that it says something about peoples blood-lust or secret pleasure of torture? I assumed Saw 3 would be like most #3 movies: Mostly story and a resolution but not nearly as gory as sequels are in horror. People are obviously seeing these movies in groves, and while I almost vomited in the theater, O’Reilly needs to get used to the fact that capitalism he loves also produces these types of movies because people want them.
“People are obviously seeing these movies in groves”
I prefer to see movies in the theater or at home, not out in the forest. No wonder you got so scared!
He’ll get distracted by the secular humanist liberal war on Christmas soon enough.
I always send him an e-card saying “Happy Holidays”.
