The Blotter

Here is a pretty exhaustive Republican rap sheet. The facts once again demonstrate their strong liberal bias.

Was the website for Tinfoil Hat Weekly down?

  2. Gravatar Icon 2 Oliver Willis

One link is a list of verifiable convictions, indictments, etc. Your link is to the fevered dreams of right wing loons who think President Clinton was on the grassy knoll in Dallas. This isn’t Fox News, both links do not have “balance”.

  3. Gravatar Icon 3 Dr. Anatole Gavage-Huskanoy

“Both sides have crooks.” But both sides don’t have the same amount of influence to sell. Follow the money.

    Oh, I forgot: “JEFFERSON!!!”

Has Ney resigned yet? Will he? Why hasn’t Hastert made him resign, just like he lied about doing with Foley?

  4. Gravatar Icon 4 Quaker in a Basement

    Not that old warhorse again.

Ian, did you notice that there aren’t any names attached to those fantastic claims?

No, it’s all “associates of the Clinton machine.” That provides plenty of leeway, doen’t it?

  5. Gravatar Icon 5 midderpidge

The Ohio GOP, Kentucky GOP, Alaska GOP, should all be added to the list. I am sure there are lots more. I’m sorry Ian, those 2 or 3 isolated democrats should balance out widespread abuse and corruption in the entire GOP power structure.

    Shorter Ian:

    blibble blibble blibble blibble blibble

  7. Gravatar Icon 7 StarkyLuv

Okay, Ian has to be some kind of joke-poster…right?

  8. Gravatar Icon 8 Dr. Anatole Gavage-Huskanoy

Talkingpoints had a good post on exactly what Abramoff was bribing the GOP to pass regarding sweatshops in the Marianas islands. Pretty incredible stuff, if you’re actually interested in corruption (instead of defending or excusing it like Ian).

Abramoff, Mehlman, DeLay, and the Republican Congress were being paid to ensure that the Marianas sweatshops could continue to force women into prostitution, and force them to have abortions if they got pregnant.

That’s what GOP corruption means, Ian.

  9. Gravatar Icon 9 Quaker in a Basement

Yes, Ian, you do have to name names.

When you cite something like this:

    - Number of individuals and businesses associated with the Clinton machine who have been convicted of or pleaded guilty to crimes: 47

we have no way of knowing just how these defendants were “associated” with Mr. Clinton.

Were they White House staffers? Cabinet officials? Childhood friends? People with the same initials?

Rule #1 of reading right-wing spin: If the details are hidden, there’s a good reason.

  10. Gravatar Icon 10 Dr. Anatole Gavage-Huskanoy

Embarassing, Ian. Are you trying to make conservatives look as defensive, lazy, and dishonest as possible? Are you employed by HoDean or Barbara Streisand?

  11. Gravatar Icon 11 Sundown

So people should be judged based on the actions of siblings, is that you’re menatlity, Ian?

  12. Gravatar Icon 12 Jayhttp://www.oliverwillis.com/2006/10/the_blotter.html#comments

This is the stupidest fucking list I have ever read. Leave it to a marginally talented tramp like Ana Marie Cox to create something so dumb and for Oliver to slobber over it.

Almost half the list are people that left the administration (like that has never happened) and as if doing so proves they were into something illegal.

    Lap it up lapdogs.

  13. Gravatar Icon 13 Quaker in a Basement

    Wow, you are willfully ignant.

    Priceless.

Tutoring available, Ian. All you have to do is ask.

  14. Gravatar Icon 14 Oliver Willis

Ana Marie Cox hasn’t written for Wonkette for something like 2 years. I’m glad you’re checking the facts there, Jay.

  15. Gravatar Icon 15 Jay

Ok, so it wasn’t Cox. It was some other idiot (or idiots) that took over for her So what? It’s still a stupid list and as such, it doesn’t surprise me that you approvingly linked to it.

  16. Gravatar Icon 16 Nimrod Gently

Well, I guess that’s settled. It’s a stupid list for stupids because Jay said so and that’s all there is to it and if you disagree you’re a stinkypants.

To you, Jay, dignity is just something that happens to other people, isn’t it?

  17. Gravatar Icon 17 Jay

Hey Nimrod, care to share with the rest of the class exactly what crimes the following people have been accused of or committed:

    Andy Card
    John Ashcroft
    Porter Goss
    Richard Shelby
    James Dobson
    Scott McClellan
    Ted Stevens
Philip Merrill (This one is freaking HILARIOUS - Wonkette links to a site called SPLOID that does a Vince Foster like, “Who killed Philip Merrill?” number on you clowns)

Explain Nimrod. Tell us all why that list is NOT stupid.

  18. Gravatar Icon 18 Dr. Anatole Gavage-Huskanoy

Jay’s terrified of talking about the fact that Abramoff was paying Mehlman, DeLay, and the Republican Congress to ensure that the Marianas sweatshops could continue to force women into prostitution, and force them to have abortions if they got pregnant.

Having nothing to say about Republican corruption — that’s what makes you so spineless and sad, Jay.

  19. Gravatar Icon 19 Nimrod Gently

    1) “He assisted the President with many of his policy decisions and managed the daily operations of the White House staff.” - given that most of those policy decisions were criminal that makes him an accessory

    2) Being John Ashcroft, also more or less everything he did as Attorney General

    3) Co-organizing the Bay of Pigs invasion for one thing

    4) Are you kidding? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A40886-2004Aug4.html

    5) Being James Dobson, not even attempting to reconcile his profoundly disturbing Focus on the Family crusade with his defence of Mark Foley

    6) Maybe not a crook so much as very bad at his job

    7) Are you kidding? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_Ted_Stevens Series of tubes my arse
    8) You really thi nk there isn’t more to this thing than we’re being told? He must have done something or pissed someone off or something.

You’re not wrong, exactly, some of those people are more dicks than actual crooks, but you’re being so obnoxious about it (which was what I was objecting to in the first place, if you look) it makes no odds.

  20. Gravatar Icon 20 Jay

Dr., again - tell us what crimes the following people have committed or have been accused of committing:

    Andy Card
    John Ashcroft
    Porter Goss
    Richard Shelby
    James Dobson
    Scott McClellan
    Ted Stevens
    Philip Merrill

You won’t answer and neither will anybody else. Why? Because you’re gutless. God forbid you actually step outside the boundaries of Liberalville and say something like “You know, while there are real crooks like Jack Abramoff on this list, calling people like Andy Card and Porter Goss criminals is wrong. And calling Philip Merrill, a man who was never accused of any wrongdoing of being murdered is wrong.” You couldn’t do that for fear of being pushed off the reservation.

And you call me spineless? Look in the mirror pal.

  21. Gravatar Icon 21 Nimrod Gently

Give me half a chance, that’s a lot of people.

Clarification: under Andy Card I probably should have said “many” instead of “most”.

  22. Gravatar Icon 22 midderpidge

Jay’s right, other than being people willing to sell their political connections for cash, these guys did nothing legally wrong that we know about. But don’t worry Jay, there are hundreds of other Republicans we could focus on. From Foley to the entire Kentucky GOP leadership. From Bush to the entire Alaska GOP leadership. From Rumsfeld to the entire Ohio GOP leadership. So Oliver, why don’t you put together a list of GOP criminals or alleged criminals and leave the Sellout Card out of it.

  23. Gravatar Icon 23 Dr. Anatole Gavage-Huskanoy

Jay, you’re a typical troll, trying to derail a thread to yammer about your own personal hobbyhorse. I don’t give a shit about your desperate plea that I prove Andy Card committed a crime. What I care about is the fact — too hot to touch by you or Ian, obviously — that the GOP Congress was selling out to the Marianas sweatshops, who were forcing women into prostitution and forcing them to have abortions if they got pregnant. Why is it okay that your heroes approved of this, Jay? Why are you so scared to address the real, harmful, and widespread corruption in your party, Jay? Why are you so scared of acting like a man, Jay? Did you ever have principles, Jay, or did the years of talk radio and black-helicopter/Streisand/Fonda/Vince Foster conspiracies gradually erode them? At what point did irrational, bug-eyed terror and hatred of liberals subsume every other fact and principle in your head?

  24. Gravatar Icon 24 S

Jay’s still smarting that his friend, JK, with whom he has oodles of “history”, disagreed fundamentally with him. He feels better calling others idiots and stupid.

  25. Gravatar Icon 25 (: Tom :)

For God sakes, his brother was a freaking drug dealer.

I suspect that you still won’t be happy. Once a Clinton apologist, always a Clinton apologist.

    Posted by: Ian | Oct 18, 2006 8:07:22 PM

I would like to take this time to point out to the studio audience that the brother of the current pResident was one of the Keating Five, who defrauded millions of people during the Ray-Gun years in the Savings and Loan scandal. For some strange reason, no one seems to remember that, but it seems that they can always point out Roger Clinton’s and Billy Carter’s foibles off the top of their head.

Oh yeah - and Kneel Putsch had Thai hookers delivered to his hotel suite earlier this year.

But the eeeeeevul Clenis had a brother who might have been a drug dealer at one point in his life, and Carter’s brother was a drunk - so I guess that sorta balances out.

    In a pig’s eye.

Once a Republican’t Putsch fellator, always a Republican’t Putsch fellator. Project much?

  26. Gravatar Icon 26 Duros62

Maybe that’s where Bush bought his coke.

  27. Gravatar Icon 27 Quaker in a Basement

For God sakes, his brother was a freaking drug dealer.

See Ian? That’s just what I’m talking about.

If brother Roger is one of the 47 defendants who were “associated with the Clinton machine,” that shows just how phony that claim is.

What the heck does Roger Clinton have to do with anything?

  28. Gravatar Icon 28 Nimrod Gently

Also his cousin George was from another planet, constantly reporting back to a hidden mothership!
