Not true. Anyone familiar with boxing knows that Reid held up the legislation until cable TV networks were included under the regulations. That is exactly what the “Nevada boxing folks” wanted. That doesn’t mean I think Reid’s actions were illegal in any way. It is par for the course in the realm of politics. I do find it noticible that Reid took the free tickets, however, while others insisted on paying for theirs. Reid is not above using his position for his personal gain (as was normal while he was the Chairman of the Nevada State Gaming Commission).
Reid probably should have done what he could to avoid the appearance of impropriety, but no actual impropriety was committed. If Scalia’s duck-hunt with Cheney didn’t do the Justice any damage, there’s no way that Reid should be tarred and feathered for this.
Funny, you didn’t seem to mind too much last week when Brian Ross changed his story on Hastert from “under investigation” to “in the mix” and didn’t note the update.
Both posts above are probably correct, but we know had this been a Republican with a similar appearnace or actuality of impropriety we would be getting endless shrill harangues about the culture of corruption and those evil Republicans. Now its just “move along, move along.”
Dugger
Correct me if I’m wrong, but is Farris complaining about liberal bias within a liberal blog?

How does this questionable but legal act compare to a golf trip to Scotland along with fancy hotels and expensive meals, which were a VIOLATION of even the House’s casual ethics rules, paid for by a man who has been convicted for, um, bribing politicans?
Should Bob Ney resign?
Side note. Three “Bush Pioneers” have now been convicted for political corruption. How many are left? What are the ODDS of three criminal convictions among that small group of elite, wealthy citizens? I hang out with questionable characters, for sure, but I don’t know three people now in prison. Bush does.
I’m just saying, Farris, you can’t seriously be coming here for fair and balanced coverage…Like Kryptonite to Stupid isn’t a Paper of Record, it’s a blog.
I don’t know if you keep your own blog, but you’re certainly free to complain about Brian Ross upon it.
Why this insistence that Oliver write about the things that you find most important? Is it just laziness? What is it?
Well when you put it that way…
Off topic but I am waiting for the article declaiming the folks who are trying to shut up scientists that don’t agree with their religion of global warming causing hurricanes…
http://www.drudgereport.com/flash4.htm
Can we expect a headline soon Ollie?
I’m only expecting intellectual integrity.
I know, I know: my sights are too high… (sigh)
Funny, I’m waiting for the same thing.
Okay, so the AP story is only completely wrong, but Reid’s still dirty, right?
It’s incredible to bemoan a lack of intellectual integrity when you have none of your own to speak of. Or are we expected to believe that you’re here for any other reason than to toss your ten-cent witticisms into the blogosphere? That Oliver Willis Dot Com is only the first stage of your noble quest for truth and justice in America?
You’re a troll. You like trolling. Stop having so much shame, and then you can talk about “integrity.”
