   dKos has got the goods.

   Leiberman *cannot* run as an Independent. The deadline to file as an Independent is the day after the Democratic primary. D-oh. When ya gonna start collecting those petitons for filing, dumbass? Lamont played this just right by pledging party loyalty no matter what. Lieberman is looking more and more each day like the tool he is.

   “Joementum” is just trying to put the muscle on the Party top brass, to scare them into abandoning or destroying Lamont.

   Fuck Lieberman. I’m tired of his shit; and soon we’ll see how many of his constituents feel the same way.

   Start rewriting the history books. There never was a Zell Miller! There never was a Joe Lieberman! They were both inventions of the big, bad Busheyman. Smokin’ Joe was good enough in 2000 as VEEP to win the popular vote. Now, open minded and compassionate progressives decide he has no place in the party of inclusiveness. Squealer would love you.

    There is a hunger inside all of us to challenge authority that can be rekindled with the right encouragement. In a democracy, the leaders we choose are crucial in reflecting the will of the people. Benjamin Franklin wrote “In free governments the rulers are the servants and the people their superiors and sovereigns.” Joe Lieberman has forgotten that. His besotted preening for Bush’s imperial crusade is a betrayal to the Democratic party and unbecoming a man elected by the people as a Democratic candidate for Vice President.

    The people of the United States oppose the war in Iraq. Moreover, the good people of Connecticut overwhelmingly oppose this ill-fated misadventure. Send Joe a message and support Ned Lamont. Ned Lamont is a stand up guy with the courage to fight and lead this nation in a new direction.

    Try harder, Dug. It’s not the “open mined and compassionate progressives” who have decided this. It’s Lieberman himself. If he can’t get the party to back him, he’s perfectly willing to split the vote and gift-wrap the seat for a Republican.

    Hey I don’t have a dog in this fight. I just wonder what Lieberman’s thought crime is. He’s a sitting Senator; a popular ex VP candidate, served his party for a long time, been fairly consistent over that period of time. Now big money extremists grab hold of power and suddenly Lieberman must go. Yet per ACU ratings, only 11 senators out of 100 have voted more liberal (less conservative) than Lieberman in 2005. Does he not hate enough? Too ready to work with the other side?

    Dugger, I said nothing when they came for Smokin Joe, then they came for Hillsy.

    I just wonder what Lieberman s thought crime is.

    He has lost touch with those he represents, and that should cost him. His failure to represent his overwhelmingly anti-war constituency by opposing the war in Iraq is not a “thought crime.” It’s a political failure.

    He has been called Bush’s favorite Democrat. He has said he’s all for completing the mission in Iraq, not even realizing that Mr. Bush told us it was completed three years ago. He sides with the few remaining people in the United States who hasn’t noticed the emperor’s nudity.

    I also don’t think that vote ratings alone determine how “good” a senator/representative is. Basically, if someone is going out of his/her way to undermine the people in the party, it raises a flag in my opinion.

    No, you’re still missing the point.

    Lieberman gets a primary opponent and suddenly he’s making noises about running in the general, even if party voters want the other guy. “Big money extremists”–whoever they might be–have nothing to do with it.

    Who says he has lost touch? Should there not be an election to in fact verify that assertion. Are you not bothered at all by the Party’s trend towards ideological cleansing. What happened to the big tent or is it just a big anti-war tent?
