Yesterday they were ready to string her up as a jihadist. Wonder if they’ll do what they always do and issue a “nevermind”?
Jill Carroll forced to make propaganda video as price of freedom
The night before journalist Jill Carroll’s release, her captors said they had one final demand as the price of her freedom: She would have to make a video praising her captors and attacking the United States, according to Jim Carroll.
In a long phone conversation with his daughter on Friday, Mr. Carroll says that Jill was “under her captor’s control.”
Ms. Carroll had been their captive for three months and even the smallest details of her life - what she ate and when, what she wore, when she could speak - were at her captors’ whim. They had murdered her friend and colleague Allan Enwiya, “she had been taught to fear them,” he says. And before making one last video the day before her release, she was told that they had already killed another American hostage.
The 101st Fighting Keyboarders always know best, right?
UPDATE: Can you believe the hubris of these chuckleheads? Captain’s Quarters says that this explanation is “Good Enough” for him. As if what him and the other members of the 101st think should be of any consequence to Ms. Carroll and her family.

Excuse me, Oliver, but aren’t you quoting from the Christian Science Monitor? So where are the aforementioned “right wing bloggers.”
The only criticism I have seen is about her comment, “I was treated well,” which occurred after her release. Most people, other than those at Think Progress, would not consider having your friend killed and having your own life threatened as being “treated well.”
Yes, because if I had blogged… blogged, what exactly I don’t know… I could be like the other gasbaggy GOPBloggers and pretend like me typing on a flipping keyboard would have helped Ms. Carroll.
Oliver criticizing right-wingers for going off half-cocked (without actually citing examples of his charge)?
That’s rich.
A female reporter is released by in Iraq. She has been kidnapped, held against her will for three months, her bodyguard murdered before her eyes and she is threatened with beheading. Oliver makes his first post about her release condeming not her kidnappers but conservative bloggers.
This gives us on the right yet another example of why deomcrats cannot be trusted with our nation’s security. They can’t even distinguish friend from foe.
Frank: Let’s see…
John Podhoretz
The Brothers Judd
Assrocket
Doughy Pantload
…oh, and leave us not foget the lovely, lovely friends of Don Imus.
Oliver speaks and still can’t condemn or even so much as mention the jihadists who kidnapped a female non-combatant journalist, murdered her bodyguard and threatened her with death. He does call conservative bloggers “gasbaggy” though.
Yep, all those security conscious Americans will be at the polls hours early in November so they can vote “D”, because the democrats know how to best protect our country from republicans with blogspot accounts!
Jill Carroll: Heroine
And Oliver Willis is laughing his backside off at those righties who could not wait to diss this Heroine. Goldberg deserves it.
Yes, Al Qaeda is reading my blog (or maybe just my RSS feed) and I clearly have emboldened them!
Rheinhard, did any of those criticisms involve the video she was forced to make before her release, or were those critical comments in response to her comments after her release?
Oliver was pointing out the video made while she was still in captivity. I am waiting for any link to a right-wing blogger who used that video as a reason to criticize the woman.
Perhaps OW raises a strawman? I know it’s hard to believe.
Rheinhard: While I didn’t know you had taken over writing duties for Oliver, I disagree with you re: Podhoretz and PowerLine, and half agree with you about Goldberg.
[…] . Just how stupid and hateful do you have to be not to be able to understand that? Oliver Willis takes on Captain Ed, wh […]
