Cultishness on display! Get yer tickets, right here. Ian claims that Jack Cafferty is lying when he says Bush has spinning the deal to outsource our ports. Of course, Ian doesn’t have to believe the facts at hands that prove that the administration has been spinning like a top, he can even look to a well known provider of conservative facts that comes to the same conclusion that Cafferty has.
Unless the liberals got to Michelle Malkin. Quick everyone, grab your tinfoil hats.

No, Oliver, the “cult” is not “confused”. Your problem in assessing this situation is that you expect that, like the Democrats, the Reps will march in lockstep behind one talking point.
You see, unlike the Democrats, Republicans occasionally disagreewith each other. Amazing, ain’t it? Politicians thinking for themselves.
Response to Frank: BWAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH! haha…hheeh heeh…woooo…heh..hehhe. hHEHHBWASHAHAHAHAHHAH..heh…hoo…oh my…{regains breath}
Seriously, frank, are you that blind? Wow. Have you considered a retirement community? I could do a quick internet search and find you a nice one in your area….
qksilver_wolf: Old saying — It is better to keep your mouth closed, and be thought a fool, then to open it and remove all doubt.
Monkey, you and me, we’re two old fools. Glad to see you accepting your membership in the club so gracefully.
Frank
So admit now the existence of a “cult” mentality, then?
Frank, it comes back to the old litmus test. Although we can’t expect that you’ll tell us the truth, ask yourself honestly if this was being done by Clinton, how would you react.
I agree that there was a little disagreeing with it on the left simply because it was done by bush, but as the issue is more sussed out even a conservative has to admit that there are very good reasons for being more cautious (maybe not completely convincing but at least enough to give some people pause, and at least enough to show how ridiculous it is for conservatives to only cite “racism” as the reason why democrats are opposed [although you don't here them say that about the republicans who oppose it]). You know that you (and the media conservatives) would have been calling clinton a traitor. You don’t have to admit it to us, it makes you look inconsistent, but we know you’ll have to admit it to yourself at some point.
I’m not sure where you got the idea that liberals are more dogmatic, but I always thought that was something the conservatives were proud of. They’ve always cited it as a reason why they took over in the mid-90s, becasue they stayed on message and didn’t allow dissent in the ranks. If you’re not aware of that, you should be.
It’s the Republicans that are being accused of being a “confused cult”, simply because they disagree. My point was (I don’t see why I have to repeat it) that Republicans often disagree, unlike Democrats, who seem never to disagree.
mjb: Will you liberals never end the foolishness? “Although we can t expect that you ll tell us the truth, ask yourself honestly if this was being done by Clinton, how would you react.?” Then why ask?
You’re saying you won’t believe my answer, so why should I answer?
Jeebus, you guys are tiresome.
Lemme see: Since you don’t expect me to tell the truth, when I answer, you won’t believe me, so I guess I should lie, then you’ll think I’m lying and believe what I consider to be the truth. How’s that?
Did you ever hear of the “Cretan Dilemma”? A man from Crete says, “I am from Crete — and all Cretans are liars.”
But I digress. My first instinct was “We’re turning our ports over to the Arabs? That’s crazy!” But, upon further investigation, I have decided that we should do it, and I’m not really paying attention to all the hoopla, although it is mildly entertaining.
And, I think you should know that I have loathed Bill Clinton, since he began his primary campaigns for the Presidency. He is a liberal, which, of course, gets him no “points” with me. And, his personal attitude and bearing make me wince to think he was our President for eight years.
And, on these threads, it was liberals who were calling conservatives racists. As for the Republicans’ tactics of the mid - 90’s I hasten to remind you that this is 2006.
And if you don’t KNOW that liberals are more dogmatic, you certainly should. I, unlike you, can direct your attention to KOS and DU as evidence, as well as dozens of other blogs. Conservative blogs are all over the map on this issue.
“It s the Republicans that are being accused of being a confused cult , simply because they disagree”
They are being confused because they disagree, they are accused of being a cult becuase they are a cult, two different issues.
And I’m really concerned for conservatives, which is why I implore them to look deep within themselves for their true motivations and intentions. I hope that you can admit to yourself some of the ugly truths, whether you admit it to me or not.
And I admitted that on this issue the liberals seem to be the dogmatic ones, but I also hear many like Franken who only want a further review and his skepticism comes from a distrust of the administration. And I could point to a bunch of con blogs on every other issue if you want to see real dogmatic drooling.
Again, if you really think that you wouldn’t be saying all the things you read on kos about this issue if Clinton were president, and ignoring the good arguments on the other side, you’re deluding yourself. At least the liberals are making non-race/religion based arguments. Can you say the same about when the right talks about profiling or “fighting THEM over there so we don’t have to fight THEM over here”?
mjb, do you seriuously believe all conservatives are deluding themselves?
Tell me right now, which part of my previous post did you not believe?
In which part of this thread did you come to believe I was “deluding myself”?
Based on what?
You definitely do not know what you are talking about.
Frank: What do Republicans often disagree about? The need for war in Iraq? Torture? Abortion? Favorite hockey teams? And would that be a microscopic quantity of disagreeable Republicans, or are they all in complete chaos? Seems like a pretty foolish and facile argument you’re making. And are these delusional statements of yours rooted in the events of your unfortunate childhood, or are you simply very lonely?
Perhaps you are the disagreeable Republican, abandoned by your anti-dogmatic Republican comrades? Are you reaching out to Democrats because you desparately want to feel like you’re part of a community? Or, in your hatred of the words and deeds of Bill Clinton, are you simply looking for someone to feel superior to? You poor lonely miserable hateful bastard, I will pray for you.
bfb: You are either mentally ill or mentally retarded. I am vacillating between mentally ill and “both.”
Your comments can’t possibly be taken seriousy when they contain so much invective aimed at me personally — someone who you know nothing about.
Actually, these statements are so reminiscent of the nauseatingly juvenile statements JadeGold used to make, that I am inclined to believe that you might actually be JadeGold signed in under another handle.
While there might be some justification for believing that a person’s political beliefs might be associated with (even motivated by) a person’s personal characteristics, you need to know the other person’s characteristics to determine it.
It doesn’t work the other way — you can not determine a person’s personal attributes by way of their politics.
Of course, assuming that conservatism is a pathology is not only unscientific, it is also prejudiced, and negative stereotyping at its worst.
Let me beat the groundlings to the great straight line:
I am vacillating between mentally ill and both.
Yes, Frank, you sure are..
Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.
OK, here is the question without all the previous fat–what do Republicans often disagree about? Can you answer that?
Frank: And you know, it’s not the politics that lead me to these conclusions about you. See, I think that I know you all too well. It’s your behavior. For one thing, you’ve got quite a history in this forum, interacting with a group that largely has nothing but scorn for you. For me, it’s a lark to check in to different blogs and kill a few hours for a few days, though Oliver’s is only the second that has really engaged me to start commenting.
For you, this blog is the bridge you’ve decided to squat scowlingly under, waiting for people that you disagree with to come along so you can feel better about yourself. Not, of course that you aren’t busy keeping up that Condi blog, but you’ve got no one to spar with over there. Looking at the patterns of your posting and examining the content, I can draw up a rudimentary psychological profile and conclude that you must lead a very lonely and awkward life.
But at least you aren’t sitting droolingly in front of the tee-vee all day. You know, all this mental activity will help to keep senility at bay, according to recent research. Good for you! But you definitely still need our prayers.
And I notice that you still haven’t answered the question–perhaps you’ve found something better to do with yourself. Or else it’s nappy time again. Wake up, Frank. I’ll ask emphatically: WHAT DO REPUBLICANS OFTEN DISAGREE ABOUT??? Except for the to-do with Ted Stevens a few months back, and that wasn’t even much of a disagreement considering that the good Senator is nuttier than you’ll ever dream of being, I’m pretty sure that you can’t give a reasonable answer, though it’ll be a treat as always to hear your next evasion.
Hey monkey, have you got an answer to the question yet? I’m just dying with anticipation…
You’re still calling me monkey?
Why not? I calls ‘em likes I sees ‘em.
When are you going to comment on something besides me?
