9/11 Will Happen Again

It’s going to be worse

The U.S. is at great risk for more terrorist attacks because Congress and the White House have failed to enact several strong security measures, members of the former Sept. 11 commission said Sunday.

“It’s not a priority for the government right now,” said the former chairman, Thomas Kean, ahead of the group’s release of a report Monday assessing how well its recommendations have been followed.

It’s not a priority because its not “sexy” for the Bush administration to govern. No photo ops.

The never ending commission sends out another “chilling” report. I don’t think anyone makes a big deal out of this anymore because the commission has proved their irrelevency several times.

    For example:

    Privately funded ..

Not to mention that they never report anything positive that has been done … like, I don’t know, we haven’t had a terrorist attack in over 4 years? I guess we’re just “lucky”.

Don’t be surprised if Kean emerges as a republican dark horse in 2008. The 9/11 Commission is the only first high-profile position he has taken since being NJ’s governor. He was supposedly on the first President Bush’s short list for VP but didn’t want it and President Clinton also apparently wanted him to be Sec’y of Education, but he was content to remain president of Drew University. His son will be challenging for Corzine’s old seat in 2006 which will bring Kean, Sr. back in the political spotlight. He is a moderate republican and possibly the most popular governor in NJ history, at least in the last few decades. He would be a formidable candidate — if he wants it, his ship may have sailed.

Yeah, its a good thing we never had any commissions in the past who warned about our ill preparations for a terror attack.

And yes, we have just been lucky for not having a terror attack. The next one will be huge and horrible.

O’Dub — the thing about you is you never let any Democrats take any criticism and that ruins your credibility. Bubba didn’t do anything to prevent it during all those years he was getting BJs. To sum it up: Clinton fucked up, Bush fucked up, but don’t try to blame Bush and not Bubba.

    Ian,
I assume you neither read the 9/11 panel’s recent statements nor saw them on Meet the Press. Lee Hamilton, the Democratic co-chair, said there have been lots of improvements along the way - sky marshals, locked cockpits, some more sharing of intelligence. But there have been tons of failures to follow through on everything else because Congress and the President have made it a non-priority.

I’m sorry…did I miss something where Clinton is now President again? No? Then shut up with the “Clinton” card already. He’s not in charge, Bush is.

We’re talking about the lead up to 9/11 fool.

We re talking about the lead up to 9/11 fool.

No we’re not, fool-squared, the topic here is continuing lack of preparedness after the second biggest wake-up call this country has ever had.
