I’ve set up some new forums where folks can chat, exchange links, etc. I’ve started a new thread: Do You Hate The Suburbs/Exurbs?

I’m curious what people think.

Being mildly allergic to the NYTimes, I went no further.

However, I foresee a Kafkaesque Metamorphos moment in our future, when $7 a gallon gas makes us wake up and realize we are no longer who we thought we were.

We’re not Davy Crockett, shooting squirrels in the leafy glades and going on to defend the Alamo. Actual freedom scares us and we scurry, like bugs when you open the curtains in an unused room.

A detached house and a lawn that was delivered like a carpet, and manicured like the hair you lost anyway, does not make us into frontiersmen or stalwart defenders of castles.

And taking a ton-and-a-half of steel and plastic wherever we go is starting to look so yesterday.

The registration warnings put me off: “maybe we’ll let you in. maybe we won’t.”

What is this? Studio 51?

See Quaker, that’s why you never got in to any clubs, LOL. It’s Studio “54″. You were three blocks away from the fun!!!!
