Victory Is Ours

So, everything went well with CK’s little procedure. He had been throwing up and was backed up, turned out to be a big time episode of constipation, but at his age (almost 10) he had to go through anesthesia to have it taken care of. Plus I am a big baby when it comes to [...]

Please Help Me Think Good Thoughts Today

CK, the weiner dog of infinite justice, is not feeling well and has an emergency medical procedure scheduled in the next couple hours. It isn’t anything life threatening but I’m of course not in a good state of mind on it, he’s never been really ill in any way before. Anyways, good puppy thoughts or [...]

Moms Rock

Remember, if you do anything today, remember to tell your mom Happy Mother’s Day. Here’s my mom:

ALSO
Congrats to my best friend Mark and his wife Vivien who became a mommy again yesterday with the birth of baby Luca.

Mark and I have secret plans to make him an NFL player, somehow.

Who Is Awesome? I Am Awesome.

The year is 1981. I went to a foreign country for the first time, a little place called England you may have heard of. My grandmother on my father’s side lived there, and my mom and I went for a little visit. Flash forward to today and my uncle just happened to have a few [...]

Life Is Too Short

One of my mom’s closest friends just suffered a horrific tragedy.

Mom Blogging

My mom’s blog is now up and running. Go check it out. She’s mostly writing about Jamaican politics right now (you’ll see where I get my passion from) but add her to your feeds and whatnot.

Embrace Change

Thought I might move things around a bit here, so here we are. I’m sure there are a few fixes to be made long term, but everything should be working in general.
No TARP funds were used in this redesign.

My Mom On The Obama Inauguration

As I noted on Twitter, the whole AT&T cell network on the Capitol lawn bit the big one during the Inauguration, and my mom was trying to call me to share the moment. But she did leave a voicemail from Jamaica. I know I’m prejudiced – it’s my mom, after all – but the emotion [...]

If You Can Dream It…

Oh yes.

Area Codes Don’t Matter

My friend, who is in the Navy and currently on base in Illinois, has a Florida-based area code at 954. Yet, he’s lived for the last couple years in Nebraska, Milwaukee and the caribbean.
The days when you could see a 954 number and think “Oh, Florida” is OVER. Welcome to the future.

Happy New Year

20 days to go.

Merry Christmas

And to all, a good night.

The N.E.S, Christmas, & Me

Phase 1: Now You’re Playing With Power
In 1986 I had just moved back to America after living for 2 years in Jamaica. It was my first time stateside after my parents had broken up, and as it has been for most of the rest of my life – just my mom and I. I had [...]

31

Oh look at that, I’m having a birthday again. 31 years ago today the skies opened up, a celestial choir sang, and Lloyd Oliver Willis Jr. began the slow battle for control of Earth-1.
Of course, the one who endured the actual pain of that day and decided she would never do it again (because of [...]

Friday Dog Blogging

My dog C.K. brings the awesome, a week in advance of him turning 9 years old. He has a Batman tag because I moved since he had the Superman one and I haven’t been able to find a pet store that still has the Superman ones in stock.

Also, Fall is the time of year that [...]

Personal Note

I want to write up a longer blog entry about What It All Means to me and my family (particularly my Mom in Jamaica, who has been alternating between Obama chants at the top of her lungs and sessions of jubilant crying) but I just can’t collect my thoughts yet, still. I’m a million miles [...]

My Anecdote

I just spoke to my 80-something year old grandmother who lives in Georgia. She got her citizenship a few years ago, and recently voted in her first presidential election. I asked her if she was happy to vote for John McCain.
We laughed.
So, um, go vote.

Olivers Of The World, Unite

Oliver Clark questions McCain
There are not a lot of guys in America named Oliver. There are even less black guys in America named Oliver.
So when one makes the news, I have to give him props.
I tried to get in touch via Facebook with Oliver Clark, the man who McCain said probably didn’t know what Fannie [...]

Drama!

New column on HuffPo: America Wants A President, Not A Drama Queen

This is me versus my best friend in Madden. I’m the ‘Skins, of course.
